This 2024 study describes what's normal for night-waking in nursing babies 6 to 12 months old. Not surprisingly, 97% woke and nursed at least once during the night. It's reassuring to know that night nursing at this stage is age-appropriate, not the sign of faulty parenting or a sleep disorder. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC10914878/pdf/10995_2023_Article_3805.pdf

I write these words on my oldest child’s 30th birthday, a milestone that also marks the 30th anniversary of the day I became a mother.  In those 30 years, I have learned many life-changing lessons about breastfeeding and parenting.  To mark this occasion, I’d like to share a few.

The Queen's Family Health Team will be running a 6 week session starting soon and has some openings.

Life with a new baby is not always what is expected. Post-partum blues, or baby blues, are common. The program is laid out as follows:

• Week 1. Introductions and group share (as comfortable)
• Week 2. Coping with feelings of isolation
• Week 3. Myths and expectations of motherhood
• Week 4. Who am I now?
• Week 5. Self-care strategies
• Week 6. Wrap-up and takeaways
