Happy 2025!
Three weeks until 2025! And without some planning, 2025 will look a lot like 2024. This may be awesome, and if that is great, congratulations, you can skip the rest of this post!
If you would like it to look different, then you must plan to do different things!
December 31, after three glasses of wine, and too many appetizer trays, it is unlikely to produce the results you are looking for.
What worked?
What didn’t work?
What might work knowing what you now know?

Happy New Year!

No, I am not confused, I am referring to the Jewish New Year which is called Rosh Hashana. The end of September early October makes much more sense. The air feels different, the crops are mostly harvested, You can plan for winter, and you don't have to make resolutions when you are drunk. i.e.: December 31 Also, it gives you 12 weeks to get a head start on your goals and plans!

Labour day has passed, and I hope you have taken some time this summer to reflect on what you want to change or improve for next year. Now is the time to start implementing them. There is a fresh start feeling out there! School is back, College dorms have filled up, the temperatures have moderated, if it doesn’t happen now, it may not happen! For those of us old enough to remember paper-based day planners, I was always interested the academic format: September to August always made sense to me.
You now have 3 months to get ahead of the pack, Not 4, unless you sell wrapping paper, December is not about productivity! You need 3 things: A Plan, Concrete action steps toward that plan, and a accountability partner.
(Shameless plug!) A coach is probably a better choice than a buddy, for many reasons, but that is for another blog post. If this resonates with you at all please let me know, no one likes preaching a sermon in an empty room!

I see a good September happening!
And so can you! Is it because of my unquenching optimism, then? Partly, but mostly because of my reticular filter. Ok, what is a reticular filter? A reticular filter is a device in that brain that sorts out what it believes what is important and filters out everything else. This is not only important but necessary, your various senses are bombarded with too much information! If it all hit your conscious mind you would go insane.
The good news is that your reticular filter is programable. I will give you an example: You finally bought that dream mustang, and suddenly you find that every third car on the road seems to be a mustang! Think of your own examples. The danger is when you don’t realize you are already programing it. I have only bad luck, etc. You filter out the good events and magnify the negative ones. And yes, I have done this as well, but I try to stop myself and reprogram.
Motivational speakers and coaches get accused of “whoo whoo” but this is science! So, now what? For one week, decide what you want to happen, even better, work toward it, and avoid endless self talk about the bad things that could happen. Plan against negative situations by all means, then focus on a positive future. So you can have a great September as well!

We all like a summer flick, I am going to riff on the perennial favorite “Mission Impossible.”
With apologies to Tom Cruise, I hope to expand on the Mission Possible. No spectacular train wrecks or motorcycle crashes, but what is your Possible Mission? Do you even know? Did you think you know, and then life happened? Are you one of those people who walk through life not sensing any real purpose except getting to the weekend? You can discover it, or at least some form of it, with the tools already available!
If you journal, what themes seem to keep surfacing?
Have you spent any time in Wisdom Literature? We don’t need to learn every thing by first hand experience. It is simply too painful!

It's summer, and it is easy to want more stuff. Bigger boats, RVs that elusive cottage, stuff Our culture and in some ways our economy depend on it. It seems that the obvious answer is to do more... It seems simple but it is not. The glass, or the week can only be so full, overfill and you just stain the carpet. The real solution is to become more! better trained, more resilient, wiser, only you know what your more looks like. Perhaps, a short conversation could help you define what more is. The call is on me, you may or may not want a coach it does not matter, I know, I have been doing this for a while. You will be clearer and more uplifted about your journey. 613-767-9144
