Influenza is a respiratory virus, not to be confused with “the stomach flu” that can cause significant health complications to those who contract it. The flu season usually runs from mid-October until the end of March or early April. It is caused mostly by two families of viruses, Influenza A and Influenza B. Every year public health experts determine what strains of these two viruses that will be circulating and target the flu shot towards those. In the event that they miss or that you get influenza anyways we have you covered.

Our clinical pharmacists can prescribe oseltamivir (Tamiflu) in certain cases to patients who have or are at risk for an influenza infection. We can prescribe this for prevention in who have been directed by the Windsor Essex County Health Unit or the institution (nursing home, hospital etc) they work for to obtain prophylaxis due to not being vaccinated or those patients with a likely influenza infection and a negative COVID test who is starting treatment within 2 days of developing symptoms. For this minor ailment assessment we ask that you please consider calling the pharmacy for assessment and treatment rather than coming in yourself.

Sore from shoveling that snow? A Minor Ailment consult for Musculoskeletal Sprains and Strains may be just what you need! Pain after an injury is normal and can be treated with either over-the-counter or prescription products to relieve the pain and swelling. We are unable to prescribe for patients where the injury is a result of severe trauma such as car crash or fall or if you are unable to bear weight on the affected limb.

We can prescribe anti-inflammatories and acetaminophen for the relief of your pain as well as review best practice first aid techniques to treat your injury and prevent further damage. You can see a pharmacist four times per year for an assessment of a musculoskeletal sprain or strain. If you get hurt come in and see one of our minor ailment trained pharmacists today!
