💙 Thankful Thursday – Ali Strathy | Kirkland Lake

Support during difficult moments can leave a lasting impact—not just through care provided, but through how it’s delivered.

Ali Strathy, Registered Nurse, was recently recognized by a patient’s family for the way she supported them during two Emergency visits. Her calm approach, strong communication, and attentiveness helped bring a sense of comfort and trust throughout their experience.

These moments reflect the meaningful role our staff play in supporting both patients and their families.

We are grateful for team members like Ali who continue to make a difference every day. 💚

Has a BRH team member made your visit or a loved one’s visit special? Even a short note can mean more than you might think, and we would love to help share it.

Think you’ve seen a cooler lab? We might be a little biased… but we think ours takes the title 👀😏

At Blanche River Health, our Laboratory team doesn’t just keep things running behind the scenes—they’ve turned their space into something creative, engaging, and honestly… a lot of fun 💙💚

🧪 It’s Medical Laboratory Awareness Week!

The team has gone all out with decorations and a full week of activities—scavenger hunts, trivia, interactive games, and a few mystery challenges that might test your courage (in a fun way, we promise 😄).

And yes… you may spot their faces on superhero bodies around the lab. It’s funny—but also pretty accurate. Because behind the scenes, they really are superheroes in our hospital, playing a huge role in patient care every single day. 🦸🏻‍♀️🦸‍♂️

Whether you’re stopping by for a quick look or getting involved, it’s definitely worth the visit 👀

We’ll be sharing more over the next few days so you can see all the creativity and effort that went into this space 🙌

Due to the diligent efforts of staff and visitors, Blanche River Health is confirming that we have transitioned to Green masking zone for patients, staff, and visitors.

Green Zone stop sign means:
• Wash your hands. Mask if you are unwell or if you choose to do so.

Masks and hand sanitizer are conveniently available at all entrances, marked by a prominent green sign.

For more information about the hospital’s colour-coded stop sign masking system and what it means for visitors, visit blancheriverhealth.ca.

Thank you for your cooperation as we work together to maintain a safe environment for all.

🧪 Medical Laboratory Awareness Week
📅 April 12–April 18

This week, we recognize the incredible work of our Medical Laboratory professionals. Working behind the scenes, they play a vital role in patient care—providing accurate, timely results that support diagnosis, treatment, and better health outcomes every day.

🔬 Did you know?
A single blood sample can be used to run dozens of different tests—from checking organ function and detecting infections to monitoring medications and identifying chronic conditions. This means one small sample can provide a big picture of a patient’s overall health.

Their precision, expertise, and dedication truly make a difference.

💙 Thank you for all that you do!

💚 Green Shirt Day & World Health Day 💚

Today, we recognize both organ & tissue donation awareness and global health and well-being—two important reminders of how we can care for one another and our communities.

Becoming an organ and tissue donor in Ontario is quick and easy:

✔️ Register your consent online: https://beadonor.ca/
(you’ll need your health card)
✔️ Talk to your family about your wishes
✔️ Carry your health card with you

One donor can save multiple lives—and help up to 75 people through tissue donation.

Green Shirt Day was inspired by Logan Boulet 🏒, a Humboldt Broncos player who lost his life in the 2018 Humboldt Broncos bus crash. His decision to be an organ donor saved lives and inspired thousands of Canadians to register.

🌍 In recognition of World Health Day, let’s continue to support health, hope, and healing—together.

💚 Register. Share your wishes. Make a difference.
