I’m not your average IBCLC Lactation Consultant.
If you’re new here, welcome.
I’ve been a Holistic Nutritionist for 22 years. I’m also an IBCLC. But this wasn’t the path I originally planned for myself.
I studied law. I thought I would become a lawyer one day.
And then life interrupted that plan completely.
I went through a massive health crisis that changed not only my health, but the way I saw the world. It forced me to question everything I had been taught about wellness, medicine, success, and what it means to truly trust yourself. That crisis pushed me to unpack a lot of s**t and I am still unpacking it as it comes.
Since then, I’ve spent my life following a very different road.
My business is called Yellowood because of my love for the poem “The Road Not Taken” by Robert Frost. I fell in love with that poem in Grade 11 and always knew that if I ever had a business, that would be its name.
Taking the path less travelled sounds cliche in a way that didn’t 27 years ago. For me it means standing fully in your presence. Even when it is not what everyone else is doing.
It means speaking honestly about how you feel and who you are.
It means making choices that don’t always align with what the world tells you to do, who you should be, or how you should live.
That path can feel lonely at times.
But I’m more comfortable in my own skin now than I’ve ever been.
And I think that’s the point.
I am not the right practitioner for everybody 1 I recognize that and I’ve learned that being a humble means connectivity and making sure that my clients feel heard and supported and if I don’t have the answer for something I’m going to refer them to someone who does.
I care very deeply about my clients experiences and what they’re going through and I hope to offer a safe place on their journey to land.
