Yesterday, our CEO Eric Philips joined them for a thoughtful conversation with Region of Waterloo staff, diving into the critical connections between health, housing, and client-centered care.

THS is proud to provide judgement-free healthcare and housing to folks living with and recovering from mental health and substance use issues, while also continuing to push for increased supports and treatment options.

Our sincere thanks to treatment partners like Sanguen Health Centre, who provide critical harm reduction and treatment supports across the communities we serve.

This International Overdose Awareness Day, we encourage everyone in our community to take action - starting with simple steps like learning the signs of overdose at overdoseday.com and stopping by your local pharmacy to pick up a free Naloxone kit to reverse overdoses in an emergency situation.

Thanks to MP Kelly DeRidder for coming by to not only tour one of our housing locations on Sheldon Street, but hear directly from front line workers.

We were glad to discuss everything from our newest Transitional Housing Program, to our Extraordinary Needs Program, and every level of support in between. From heirloom tomatoes, to zucchini, squash and plenty of celery - the Kitchener Garden Group's harvest this week was nothing short of abundant!

Part of our Recreation and Wellness Program, this group is open to all clients, whether living in THS homes or receiving support in the community. Between planting, weeding, and watering the group takes on weekly care of two community garden plots - with clients taking home all the produce they grow.

Whether providing flexible supports to an individual living in an independent unit, or the 24/7 staffing to help an individual transition out of hospital and into a long-term home - we're ready to help every member of our community find affordable and secure housing that meets their needs.

We are thrilled to announce a new project with The City of Guelph to bring more affordable housing for seniors to the community.

The building will include 13 deeply affordable and fully accessible rental units on land donated by the city at 14 Edinburgh Road South.

The three-storey building will have sustainable design features with on-site support provided by our staff.

The City of Guelph is also contributing up to $1.5 million in federal funding through the Housing Accelerator Fund.

Our gardens are producing some delicious fresh vegetables and fruit!

The folks we support help decide what they would like to grow, assist in planting, watering, weeding, and picking the items with staff support. When something is ready to harvest, staff can support the client in using this item to create a meal or a snack.

Gardening together in our congregate homes is a great way to work on activities of daily living without it feeling like a chore. Clients can improve their physical fitness, engage in sensory stimulation, socialize, and reminisce while achieving a sense of pride and accomplishment. Our team members work alongside them - and are willing to quite literally get their hands dirty to support client goals.

When we provide opportunities for meaning and purpose in someone’s day, it can directly impact their quality of life and our dedicated staff go above and beyond to make this happen.
