We are thrilled to announce a new project with The City of Guelph to bring more affordable housing for seniors to the community.

The building will include 13 deeply affordable and fully accessible rental units on land donated by the city at 14 Edinburgh Road South.

The three-storey building will have sustainable design features with on-site support provided by our staff.

The City of Guelph is also contributing up to $1.5 million in federal funding through the Housing Accelerator Fund.

Our gardens are producing some delicious fresh vegetables and fruit!

The folks we support help decide what they would like to grow, assist in planting, watering, weeding, and picking the items with staff support. When something is ready to harvest, staff can support the client in using this item to create a meal or a snack.

Gardening together in our congregate homes is a great way to work on activities of daily living without it feeling like a chore. Clients can improve their physical fitness, engage in sensory stimulation, socialize, and reminisce while achieving a sense of pride and accomplishment. Our team members work alongside them - and are willing to quite literally get their hands dirty to support client goals.

When we provide opportunities for meaning and purpose in someone’s day, it can directly impact their quality of life and our dedicated staff go above and beyond to make this happen.

We loved working with the talented team at ABA Architects on one of our newer builds in Kitchener which has been nominated for TWO of the City of Kitchener’s Great Places Awards!!!

The awards recognize buildings that foster community pride, promote feelings of safety and well-being, and contribute to quality-of-life.

Affordable housing isn’t just about putting a roof over someone’s head. We take pride in creating safe and dignified rental homes for our neighbours living with mental health issues.

We are so proud this building has been nominated for both the Affordable Housing Solutions Award and the Sustainable Kitchener Award – highlighting our residents' bike and scooter storage room, accessible units, a community room, outdoor spaces, and being net zero ready.

But even more importantly, we've had great feedback from our clients who have built an incredible community since settling in.

Thanks to our amazing team for making our annual client barbeque a huge success!

The frozen shirt game and ice cream sundaes were especially popular on a hot day - but our CEO Eric taking pies in the face was another fan favourite🥧

We were happy to host MP Tim Louis, MPP Aislinn Clancy, Regional Councillor Matt Rodrigues, and Kitchener Councillor Debbie Chapman to learn more about our clients and we are excited to work together on shared priorities as we grow!

Our leadership team was honoured to join folks from Crow Shield Lodge as part of our continuous learning as we work to create safe spaces for our clients and staff.

While June marks National Indigenous History Month, it’s important for us to be intentional throughout the year in recognizing the history, resilience, and diversity of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis people in our community, and as a service provider to better understand our clients and coworkers to provide appropriate care and support.

Miigwetch Crow Shield Lodge for your time and knowledge

In the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, every identity adds a unique shade to our collective lives. From race and gender to disability and socioeconomic status, understanding these intersections helps us celebrate diversity, foster inclusivity, and champion equity and equality for all.

Shout out to our Pride Committee for coordinating our annual tie-dye event to celebrate our clients and staff. Can’t wait to see the final products at our pride rally next week! ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

Across a spectrum of housing options based on individual clients' needs, our Life Skills Workers and Housing Support Coordinators play a huge role in helping clients meet their goals - from increasing their involvement in the community to moving into more independent housing.

When clients are ready to move from a home with more supports - freeing up a space for someone who needs them more - buildings like this 25 unit site in Kitchener provide a safe space to move to. Staff are still available when they need them, but also support clients in some of our units scattered throughout the community.
