Student Spotlight goes to River!!!!

In this video, River plays Pumpkin Boogie, learning all about dotted quarter note rhythms and 8th rests! What a fun, seasonal song!

River has also accomplished many more musical goals this year such as continuous pedal, playing lead sheets, and finding major vs minor chords! And it doesn’t stop there… she’s also a talented guitarist and vocalist.

Saturday Student Spotlight goes to LIVI!!

Livi is a talented student who has studied with us several years now! She has a touch for playing popular music (who doesn’t love some Ed Sheeran?!) and puts great emotion into each song she plays! Livi has performed at both studio recitals and her school talent shows! It’s truly such a treat to hear her play! 💕

Saturday Spotlight features…. Ada!! ⭐️ 🎹

Ada is a captivating performer! Just look at her improvising at the local museum’s synesthesia exhibit! The joy music brings her is evident and contagious!

Ada also loves songwriting and explores piano, voice, and guitar! A big cheer for Ada and a thank you for always being so willing to share your beautiful melodies with those around you!

A little late to posting the Spotlight Saturday this week as we were at a wedding! But let’s all give Hannah a big virtual round-of-applause!

Hannah is an eager, bright young student! She took on a big project of recording 3 songs for her grandparent’s anniversary video! What an accomplishment, achieved with dedication, hard-work, and a heart for sharing her music with others!

This video features Doreen playing the beautiful intro for “Never Enough” from The Greatest Showman! The best part? She taught HERSELF the song over the summer! She handled the 16th note rhythms like a pro and challenged herself to learn the chords for the lead-sheet version! A huge virtual round of applause for your hard work, Doreen! 🎹 🌟 👏 Doreen has been studying with our studio for about 5 years now! She flew through the Mozart Mouse series all the way to Level 4 Piano Adventures! She is a shining example of how well virtual lessons can work with commitment and an enthusiasm for learning! 🧠 💡

"Hi, my name is Emmy! I'm originally from Guelph, ON, but I've spent the past 16 years in Saskatchewan, where I completed my Bachelor of Music Education. I'm a voice major, trained in the Bel Canto technique, and I also teach piano, guitar, ukulele, tenor saxophone, and trombone!

I've worked with students of various ages and skill levels both individually and in groups. I've had the opportunity to run tenor and bass workshops for high school students at the University of Regina - experiences that deepened my love for collaborative music making!

In addition to teaching, I hold certificates in transcribing music into Braile. As an EA, I've supported students with visual impairments, helping them participate fully in band and choir programs.

I believe in making music accessible to everyone! Being part of a community where people come together to share music is what fills my heart, and I strive to create that environment wherever I teach!"
