With performance season in FULL swing, our students are feeling all the feelings: excitement, nerves, pride, and more!

I firmly believe our job as teachers isn't just to help kids perform with technical accuracy, but also with confidence in their abilities! Through performance we learn the importance of routine practice, the ability to work through performance anxiety, and the pride that comes with sharing our gifts (whether it's our best performance or not)!

I hope this little story helps walk kiddos through stage fright, learn that mistakes are okay, and perform like they truly do believe in themselves!

Big news for the fall!

We will now be offering in-home Music Therapy services to residents in Kitchener-Waterloo!

Music Therapy focuses on using music to work towards non-musical goals such as improving areas of physical, emotional, cognitive, and social-wellbeing! Our team member, Sara, holds her Bachelors of Music Therapy and is passionate about using music to connect and engage with clients in working towards their goals.

In this student spotlight, we celebrate JASMINE!

Jasmine is one of our young students, who began her music learning journey this year with teacher Winnie! Just look how steady she has learned to play!

In this video, you can see her working on two really important concepts:
1. Developing finger control to play harmonic intervals (two notes at once).
2. Playing steps (one white key to the very next) while keeping hands in a 5-finger position!

Spring sounds are in the air and it's time to celebrate our students! It's always such a sweet time to recognize the incredible progress that can happen in a years time!

Big changes ahead... we are expanding to serve 2 locations!!

Kitchener-Waterloo, ON
Martensville, SK

Our three lovely teachers - Sara, Emmy, and Winnie - will continue teaching our talented, creative musicians in KW.

Teacher Courtney will be expanding services to Martensville, SK this coming July!

She will greatly miss seeing her ON students in-person, but will enjoy seeing some faces virtually, and still connecting with families as the Studio Owner!

With any big change, comes a lot of mixed feelings, but we are excited to see the student community grow and thrive!! Thanks KW community for being the place where it all started, and here's to welcoming more SK students to our studio!

Student Spotlight goes to HAZEL!!

Hazel plays the very famous “Opalite” by Taylor Swift! She’s only been learning this for a week, and it’s already coming along beautifully! Hazel has shown a great amount of creativity this year, using her skills learned in lessons to do a Taylor Swift duet as a class project! I love seeing kiddos apply their learning to their unique interests and passions!

Lucila has been learning “The Wind” as a potential repertoire selection for her Level 2 RCM Exam this June! She flows through the broken chord patterns with ease and ends with fantastic dynamic awareness!

Student Spotlight goes to... HENRY!

Henry is a young composer with a thorough understanding of how to write cute little musical questions and answers! By adding some staccatos and rests, Henry made "The P**f Song" come to life!

Henry created this little tune as part of our studio composition project! If you are a student who wants to write a song for our year end composition book, chat with your teacher soon to start working on your submission! We can't wait to hear it!

This past fall, I (Courtney) posted a little medley of what I predicted would be the most common songs played in our studio! Well... I missed the mark a bit! Thankfully, I have my young students to remind me what's cool these days!

So far this school year we have heard many beautiful, creative renditions of "Fate of Ophelia" by Taylor Swift and "Golden" by K-Pop Demon Hunters! I would also argue "Soda Pop" by K-Pop Demon Hunters is a close runner-up!

Here is teacher Courtney playing Fate of Ophelia x Golden! I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoy hearing my students cover these songs! :)
