❄️ When Going Outside
1. Dress in layers.
Wear several thin layers, a warm coat, hat, gloves, and a scarf. Waterproof boots with good traction are essential.
2. Watch for ice.
Assume all wet-looking pavement is slippery. Walk slowly and take short steps. Use handrails when available.
3. Use mobility aids if needed.
A cane with an ice tip or a walker with grips can improve stability.
4. Avoid overexertion.
Shoveling snow can strain the heart—ask for help or hire someone to handle heavy work.
5. Plan trips wisely.
Only go out when necessary, and tell someone where you’re going and when you expect to return.
