Gardening can be a powerful grounding practice 🌱

There’s something about feeling the soil, noticing textures, and slowing down with simple, intentional movement that brings you back to the present.

Other grounding techniques you can try:
👀 5-4-3-2-1 sensory exercise
🌿 Walking barefoot in the grass
☀️ Sitting in the sun and noticing the warmth on your skin
🧘♀️ Slow, intentional breathing
🧊 Holding something cold or textured

It’s not about doing it perfectly, it’s about gently bringing yourself back to the present moment in a way that feels doable.

There are a lot of things parents, especially moms, are told to feel guilty about. But the older I get, and the more I work with families as a therapist, the more I realize that guilt isn’t always a sign you’re doing something wrong.

Parenting, healing, and showing up for others doesn’t require perfection. Sometimes it just requires being intentional and compassionate. 💛

Emotions aren’t problems to fix. They’re signals to understand. 🧠

Kids don’t need perfect adults. They need adults who help them make sense of what they feel. 🌿

Many of us grew up learning how to hide emotions instead of understand them, and a lot of kids are still being taught the same thing without anyone realizing it.

Emotional skills don’t just “naturally happen.” Kids learn them through the way adults respond to their feelings every day.

The goal isn’t raising kids who never feel angry, anxious, sad, or overwhelmed. The goal is helping them understand that emotions are normal, manageable, and not something to be ashamed of.🧠

And the truth is: many adults are learning this for the first time too. 💛
