Today is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation in Canada, which is also referred to as Orange Shirt Day. We wanted to take some time to chat about the history of residential schools, how this commemorative day came to be, and some facts and stats about historical and current realities that our Indigenous people face.

We continue to have a lot of work to do to show true allyship to First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples as they work towards sovereignty, the healing of ancestral trauma, their fight to protect land, language and culture, and the realities of living in a country that utilizes genocidal tactics as a form of continued colonization and assimilation. It is integral that non-Indigenous people do the labour necessary to remain educated and informed about both the past and present atrocities Indigenous peoples face in this country.

Meet our newest team member, Desiree!

Desiree is a Qualifying Registered Psychotherapist that is currently in the process of completing her Masters level studies in Counselling Psychology.

Because Desiree is a student she is under the close supervision of our Clinic Owner and Registered Psychotherapist, Theresa Will, and will be offering lower-cost therapy at $80 per 50-minute session.

Desiree is offering in person and virtual session on Thursdays and Fridays and is currently taking new clients! She is excited to get started and would absolutely love to join you on your journey.

Happy ‘back-to-school and real life’ week! We hope everyone had a great summer, with at least a few moments of joy, laughter, and relaxation!

Since we are back this week to our regularly scheduled programming we wanted to start off by introducing Vicki, our new Registered Social Worker!
