Bloated, belching, or feeling uncomfortable after eating? It could be FODMAPs.

FODMAPs are a group of short-chain carbohydrates found in many everyday foods (like certain fruits, dairy, wheat, onions, and legumes). The term stands for Fermentable Oligosaccharides, Disaccharides, Monosaccharides, and Polyols. These carbohydrates can be poorly absorbed in the small intestine, which means they travel to the large intestine where gut bacteria ferment them. This process can lead to gas, bloating, abdominal discomfort, belching, and changes in bowel habits for some people.

A low FODMAP diet is a structured nutrition approach designed to reduce these fermentable carbohydrates temporarily in order to calm digestive symptoms.

It’s commonly recommended for people with digestive conditions such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO), where fermentation of these carbohydrates can worsen symptoms.

Many people notice significant improvement in bloating, gas, diarrhea, constipation, and abdominal pain when the diet is implemented correctly.

However, the low FODMAP diet is not meant to be a lifelong diet—and it’s not a DIY plan. The process involves three important phases:
• Elimination of high-FODMAP foods for a short period
• Systematic reintroduction to identify your personal triggers
• Personalization so you can expand your diet while keeping symptoms under control

Without professional guidance, it’s easy to stay overly restricted or risk nutrient deficiencies. Working with a Registered Dietitian ensures the process is done safely, effectively, and in a way that supports long-term gut health.

Is leaky gut behind your digestive symptoms?

Your gut lining acts as a protective barrier, allowing nutrients to pass into the bloodstream while keeping harmful substances out. When this barrier becomes damaged — often referred to as leaky gut or intestinal permeability — it can allow unwanted particles to pass through, triggering inflammation and a wide range of symptoms.

Common signs of leaky gut may include:
• Bloating and gas
• Food sensitivities
• IBS symptoms (constipation, diarrhea, abdominal pain)
• Fatigue or brain fog
• Skin issues like acne or eczema
• Joint pain or inflammation

Cytomatrix L-Glutamine provides the amino acid L-glutamine, which plays an important role in supporting the integrity and repair of the gut lining. It helps fuel the cells of the intestinal wall, supporting healing and improving the barrier function of the gut.

But supplements are only one piece of the puzzle.
Healing the gut often requires a combination of targeted nutrition, reducing inflammatory foods, stress management, and the right supplements to restore balance in the digestive system.

If you're struggling with IBS symptoms or ongoing digestive issues, our naturopathic doctors can support you by creating a personalized gut healing plan.

Struggling with ongoing digestive symptoms like bloating, abdominal pain, diarrhea, or food sensitivities?

Our Gut Recovery IV is designed to support digestive healing from the inside out.

This IV includes L-glutamine, an important amino acid that helps nourish and repair the intestinal lining, along with a targeted blend of vitamins and minerals that support optimal digestive wellness and overall health.

When there is chronic inflammation in the gut, nutrient absorption through the gut may not be optimal.
IV therapy bypasses the digestive system entirely, delivering nutrients directly into your bloodstream so they can go straight to your cells — ensuring your body receives the support it needs.

This therapy can be a powerful addition to your gut healing plan alongside nutrition, lifestyle changes, and naturopathic care.

Our Gut Recovery IV is packed with gut-loving nutrients:
✔ Vitamin C – Fights inflammation & supports immune health
✔ L-Glutamine – Helps repair and strengthen the gut lining
✔ B Vitamins (B12, B6, B5 & Folate) – Boost energy & support digestion & replete nutrient deficiencies
✔ Magnesium Sulfate – Relaxes the gut & relieves cramping
✔ Zinc – Promotes healing & reduces gut inflammation
✔ Amino Acids – Aid in tissue repair & overall gut function
✔ Selenium – Supports antioxidant protection & immunity
✔ Calcium Chloride – Helps maintain proper muscle & nerve function

This powerful blend reduces inflammation, supports gut lining repair, and restores essential nutrients often depleted in those with IBS and IBD.

Feel lighter, more energized, and in control of your digestive health!

Let's talk menopause weight gain.
If you’re in midlife and noticing stubborn weight gain—even though you’re eating the same and doing all the “right” things—insulin resistance could be the missing piece.
During perimenopause and menopause, hormonal shifts can make your body more likely to store fat and less responsive to the strategies that used to work.

The good news? With the right testing, nutrition strategies, and targeted support, you can work with your hormones and metabolism instead of against them.

Feel Better, We Can Help! 💚

Heart palpitations in perimenopause or menopause? 💓

If your heart has started racing, fluttering, or skipping beats in midlife — you’re not alone.

Hormone shifts (especially fluctuating and declining estrogen and progesterone) can directly affect the heart’s electrical system and the nervous system that regulates heart rate.

Lower progesterone can make you feel more “wired,” while estrogen changes can increase sensitivity to adrenaline and impact heart rhythm.
Palpitations that can feel scary — especially if they come out of nowhere.

That said, it’s still important to get assessed. Thyroid changes, anemia, blood sugar imbalance, or true arrhythmias should always be ruled out. Peace of mind matters.

Want real answers about what’s happening in your body?

Join us for ✨Hot, Flashy & Fabulous✨ — an empowering event designed to help you understand perimenopause and menopause with guidance from menopause experts Dr. Deanna Walker, ND and Dr. Rahima Hirji, ND.

You’ll discover:
✨The real reason you can’t sleep through the night
✨Why you don’t feel yourself anymore
✨Why you’re exhausted and foggy, no matter how much sleep you get
✨The hormone shifts that are happening & what to do about it
✨How hormone shifts impact weight, mood, sleep, motivation and more
✨What’s causing your brain fog (it’s probably not dementia!)
✨The truth about HRT: it’s actually safe and effective!

Join us May 6th at Dr. Takhar’s Cosmetic Clinic from 6 pm to 7:30 pm

Struggling with fatigue, weight changes, brain fog, or hair loss?
It could be more than just stress — it may be Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, a autoimmune form of hypothyroidism.

While thyroid medications can help normalize hormone levels, they often don’t address the root cause — the autoimmune inflammation driving the condition. That means you may still experience ongoing symptoms even if your labs look “normal.”

At Sage, we take a root-cause approach to supporting Hashimoto’s by focusing on:
✨ Reducing inflammation
✨ Supporting gut health
✨ Optimizing key nutrients (like selenium, zinc & iron)
✨ Balancing the immune system
✨ Managing stress + cortisol

Because when it comes to autoimmune conditions, it’s not just about your thyroid — it’s about your whole body.
Small, targeted changes in diet, lifestyle, and supplementation can make a big difference in how you feel.

If you’ve been told your thyroid is “normal” but you’re still not feeling your best, there are answers — and support is available.
