I had a dream...that one day I'd fly over the bar to call it my first muscle up.

Today, that dream came true 😁

It came out of no where. I was already packed up, shoes on, shirt on and ready to leave after an incredible session of achievements.

This is a fantastic exercise for beginners since it involves the legs. This will take a substantial load off until you are ready to perform the...

➑️ Single leg body assist dips
➑️ Negative ring dips
➑️ Full ROM band assisted dips

Some key take aways to consider...

➑️ Use the same technique between two chairs if you do not have a set of rings
➑️ Start in a locked out arm position
➑️ Lower yourself to at least a 90 degree elbow bend before pushing yourself back up.
➑️ Keep elbows tight to your side during the entire movement.
➑️Look forward, keep shoulders down and back as you lower.

All of this will help you build the motor patterns required to perform strong future dips at your best.

Step back to decrease the load as a beginner and work your way to horizontal to increase the load.

Want to take it a step further?

➑️ Elevate your feet which decreases the assistance from your legs.

This brings me joy, and yes, frustration at times but it's so undescribably rewarding.

I have a desire to create shapes like I'm painting the images of my mind.

I love the feeling of freedom and play combined.

I love overcoming the challenges that ultimately leads to what I earn.

I don't recommend handstanding in the middle of traffic or the road πŸ˜‰ but I do recommend giving this unlimited potential exercise a chance.

Bullying is hurting our kids.

Kids who are bullied are hurting and the kids who bully are hurting too.

They are all in pain.

Wearing a pink shirt one day isn't enough (speaking to myself as well). We need to stand up for ourselves and others and educate all of our youth on both sides of the issue.

I was a victim of bullying at different stages of my life and I didn't realize how much it affected me until later in adulthood.

I remember sitting against the wall, beside the door of the classroom. I had descent grades in this class but anytime I rose to the occasion of an excellent grade, my teacher knocked me down. He never believed I was smart enough to get 80s and above. One time he threw his eraser at me calling me stupid and I'll admit, to this very day I sometimes have to remind myself I am not...

Bullying is not a simple bump in the road in childhood anymore. It's an epidemic that needs attention.

I am melting with excitement and feel like I am progressing from 0 to 100 right now. All the frustrating moments and doubts that creep into your journey lead to exactly this...

I was SO close to a perfect straight line today!

I felt and still feel incredible πŸ˜„

What a confidence booster, to experience this moment alongside my longest hold today and the most control since starting with πŸ‘Š

I am extremely grateful for their Push program. Anyone can handstand, all ages, shapes and sizes, all you need is the right information, the right structure and some phenomenal coaches like and to guide you. Of course you need to put in the effort and consistency which is the #1 reason I have been progressing faster. I have upped my handstands to 3x/ week, as you can see, it's working.

I'd highly recommend any of their programs if you want to achieve a one arm handstand, press to handstand or learn how to hit a regular handstand like beginner me.

One day I'll be a pro at this.

One day I'll do a handstand push up.

One day I'll hit a 90 degree push up.

One day you can too!!!

Can you REALLY squat? πŸ€”

I saw a post a while back from about tempo paused squats so with today's excitement of the gym opening, I gave it a shot.

My entire workout was within this 1 set 🀯

Slow squats will give you all the feedback you need to improve your squat. You can feel every single part of your body working to control the movement. It also allows you to make real time adjustments and man, your core stability is tested too.

Thank you Dr. Aaron Horschig for pulverizing my legs in one set but also for your enormous amount of helpful knowledge. You never said do it with 220lbs but I really appreciate what you do.

For those who are still waiting for the gyms to open, hang in there.

For those who are excited to be back, please don't be silly and go overboard like I did today, I've been on the couch ever since πŸ€•

It's still incredible to be back, mental health and hunger levels for the win at πŸ†

Dear Nan Duffett,

There's a memory of you that I'll never forget...

You were rocking in what we all know as Pops chair, the one with the best view, overlooking the ocean's calmness, able to see the harbour on the other side of town. Beside you on the right, was the spy window, you could watch out for any "intruders" coming up your driveway and prepare in advance for their arrival :)

It was the longest and most open chat we have ever had. I asked lots of curious questions, entranced by your voice, like the expert storyteller you were. I remember not wanting to leave and it was the last day of my visit in Newfoundland. You told me so much about family that I haven't heard before and you gave me this, the little tea cup with a childhood memory and a salt holder that is used every single day.

I always enjoyed the house on a hill as a kid, elevated above everyone and everything, like you are now. You have done so much for others throughout your lifetime and loved it. You even made the best blueberry pudding possible, but now it's time for you to watch over us instead of taking care of us.

Would you rather be...

Unrealistically chiseled or emotionally charged and loving yourself?

There is no right or wrong answer, some will say you want the perfect body, some will say you want to feel better inside.

I can tell you that the latter can be the better direction to head towards but I can also tell you, I understand the former.

I chased the perfect body for years. I achieved incredible results from the 129lb druggy to the 200+ fitness enthusiast.

For me, it wasn't worth it. Having the best body of my life didn't bring me fulfillment. I was proud I accomplished what I did but knowing what I know now, learning about who I am really outweighs such an achievement.

When you learn about who you are and what you truly want, a better physique is a by-product of self-love and acceptance.

You want to look good?

Then start focusing on feeling good and the world will be your oyster.

This is me, attempting a few times to complete "ante up" tricep challenge. I could conjure up reasons why it was unsuccessful but it's not the point of this post.

Failure is a measurement of where you are, in order to get where you want to be.

Failure leads to action planning.

Failure humbles you.

Failure challenges you until one day...

Ever since the lockdown, I have been very motivated to utilize my extra time to get back into moving more fluidly.

With the incredible guidance from Handstand Factory and their flexibility training that comes with their programs, I managed to place my hands completely flat on the floor today for the first time, using the Straddle Jefferson Curl.

Treat your spine really well with this movement πŸ‘Œ
