Depending on the location of where the stroke occurred in the brain, we can get different presentations in our body. A stroke can affect our motor, sensation, cognition, and language. Physiotherapy can address the motor impact of a stroke. Common therapy techniques include functional training, constraint-induced movement therapy, mirror therapy, coordination and balance training, and gait training.

Looking for effective physiotherapy treatment for stroke in Kitchener? Our team of experienced therapists can help you recover and regain your independence.

A Baker’s Cyst, or its technical name a popliteal/synovial cyst, is when the fluid-filled sac that sits at the back of our knees becomes inflamed and swollen. This can lead to knee pain and feeling like you cannot fully bend or straighten your knee.
Having a Baker’s Cyst usually means that there is an underlying injury or irritation to the knee that has caused inflammation in the knee. When we get inflammation in our knees, it will find any open area to go, if it goes to the back of our and fills that fluid-filled sac then we call it a Baker’s Cyst. A common cause of Baker’s Cyst is a flare of knee osteoarthritis. Physiotherapy is a great way to conservatively treat a Baker’s Cyst.

Are you suffering from a Baker's cyst in Kitchener? Our physiotherapy services can help! Contact us today to schedule an appointment.

Massaging the TMJ can help with symptoms of pain and stiffness. It’s a good idea to start with light pressure and then gradually increase it as tolerated. Too much pressure can aggravate symptoms, especially if you’re not used to massage in that area.
Massage therapy should be applied to the muscles around the TMJ first before directly massaging the TMJ itself. This will help you determine how irritable the TMJ is. In some cases, the TMJ may be too sensitive to massage directly, and the treatment will need to be focused on the surrounding muscles. Massage can be applied to the jaw muscles, facial muscles, and surrounding muscles (e.g. neck and shoulder muscles).

If you suffer from TMJ pain, massage therapy can provide relief. Discover the benefits of massage for TMJ in Kitchener with our experienced therapists.

Trigger finger is an overuse injury where the long finger flexor tendons, tendon sheath, and ligaments get irritated and inflamed. We can even develop a thickening from the inflammation and scar tissue, called a nodule. This can lead to feelings of tightness and as it progresses may cause the finger to catch when bending or straightening your finger.

Find relief for your trigger finger with physiotherapy in Kitchener. Our experienced therapists will create personalized treatment plans to address your specific needs.

Our Story

Strive Physiotherapy & Performance began as a dream idea discussed between two friends who were frustrated with the health industry. In short, the dream was to be in a clinic where there was ongoing education, a positive and familial atmosphere, and clinicians dedicated to customer service and quality of care instead of numbers.

After taking a leap of faith and starting Strive Physiotherapy & Performance, Mike began as the only person working in our entire clinic. No front desk staff, no RMT, no physiotherapy assistant... and no on site laundry machines! (That’s right, he would run the laundry back and forth from his house between clients).

In 2018 we celebrated our 3rd birthday. We are now 3 physiotherapists, 2 RMTs and 3 office administrators... and adding more! We pride ourselves in our thorough, one-on-one care. That means no assistants sitting with you after seeing the physiotherapist for 5 minutes, no continually changing staff. You will be seen by the same physiotherapist for your entire appointment, every time. We help each client understand their injury, work towards recovery, and build strength and the confidence to reduce the risk of future injury.

Each of us loves our job, and we look forward to coming to work every day. Seriously! It’s hard to dread Mondays when you love what you do. We look forward to seeing each of our clients, and guiding them through their recovery.
