So nice to see the beautiful gowns & how young we all looked We all learned a bit more about each other💖
Many Thanks to Sarah & Elise for setting this up
Exciting news ! For our next meeting we will once again be able to meet in-person Of course protocols will be in place but at least we can socialize once again

I just want to thank you all for your patience & hanging in as we safely work toward being together

Another meeting yesterday . We have been moved to a smaller space which worked out very well We are stilled capped @ 25 people in the room but no more Social Distancing ,YAY ! We were able to better socialize which we all love to do . Hopefully other protocols will loosen in the New Year.
Sound was great & we watched a slide show of Karin's Dive trip to the Bahama's This was so nice to see al the beautifully coloured fish. They even had a shark encounter which was handled very safely
We welcomed Sarah & Elise our two UW students in the Therapeutic Recreation Program WE are looking forward to what they will plan for us in the New Year.
Next week is our Holiday Luncheon @ Country Boy ,A turkey dinner with all the trimmings
We are begining to see some normalcy in our meetings.

Good Morning & Happy Halloween !! We have now had 3 meetings at Kingsdale with 16 members & 3 volunteers . I am happy to say that 2 new couples have joined as well. We are getting a bit more comfortable & trying to resume our normal pattern of meetings
We have played Bingo which was good fun & a slide show presentation of a trip to England There are kinks still to be worked out , the main one being sound /audio Once we are informed of how the new government mandates work for us with some restrictions lifted this will be a big help. Meanwhile our group is being patient as we try to figure out a way to resolve this.
Elaine is working on finding us a place to enjoy a Christmas lunch out now that restaurants have full capacity Stay Tuned !!
Beginning in November we will have 2 students from UW who are in their 3rd year Therapeutic Leisure Program .
We look forward to working with them.
It is truly wonderful to meet in person once again

After so many months of Zoom Meetings I am happy to announce that Memory Boosters has a new home With the help of Bethany (City of Kitchener) Active Aging & Sherry's (University of Waterloo) valuable support we will begin in-person meetings on Sept .28th & resume 2nd & 4th Tues a month
We are thrilled with this opportunity to finally see one another again
Of course Covid protocols will be in place & some adjustments will need to be made . My hope is that covid will remain at bay & not interfere with our plans
For the next few weeks our activity schedule will be loose as we all get comfortable in returning to meetings
Our meeting place is Kingsdale Community Center which is in a beautiful location & very spacious
Registered members will receive more info closer to the first meeting
As well we are also planning to have our Annual Christmas Luncheon sometime in November: more details to follow
Of course it goes without saying that with Covid being a nasty mistress this may all change so keep your fingers crossed

Meanwhile I want to thank everyone who joined us on Zoom & those members that helped make that happen as well as all of you who Follow us & Like us

Optometry is drastically underfunded in this province, and it’s finally reaching a breaking point.

It's been awhile since our last posting . There have been many changes in the past year the one that impacts us most is that with the pandemic continuing & numbers climbing we are unable to meet in person However we are ever resilient & now meet weekly via Zoom We have had various different activities that have helped to keep us focused & socialized Karen T our super volunteer from UW left us in the summer as she was able to find employment after finishing her degrees We wish her well but miss her so much .
A bit later Sherry D our friendly Prof at UW located another young lady Taylor K who now helps us with music programming. This is a great asset for the group as we all truly enjoy the songs & musical trivia games we play As well one of our members Bill H is a very gifted photographer and has presented some slide shows with a very interesting monologue about the slides . With his help we have seen parts of Canada we would never been able to visit. Karin took us deep diving on the St Lawrence River while she explored some old ship wrecks So the weeks pass & we get to know each other a bit better & enjoy the hour
So Christmas is fast approaching & it will be different for all of us. We have planned a Christmas sing along with Taylor & a Christmas party with some games ,shared memories & an Ugly Christmas Sweater contest I hope it all works but if not you can be sure it will provide some laughs !
Meanwhile stay safe , be well and have the best Christmas you possibly can !
Peace & joy to all our family ,friends and followers
