Effective immediately, the BC Wildfire Service is rescinding the Category 2 and Category 3 open fire prohibitions that were in place for the Bulkley and Nadina Fire Zones. Open fires are now permitted throughout the Northwest Fire Centre. As always, conditions will be closely monitored and the prohibition may be reimplemented if circumstances warrant.

How do you become a helicopter rescuer?
The necessary license for a helicopter rescue job varies slightly by employer, but most companies prefer applicants who have at least an airline transport pilot helicopter license, which requires a commercial license with an instrument rating, being at least 23 years old, and having at least 1200 hours of flight time.

To become certified in Search and Rescue medicine, you must complete the course and pass the certification examination. The certification exam will be given online at https://www.jibc.ca in New Westminster BC, Other study material are there also. Methods of searching and rescuing people will be taught.
