💧 Council Keeps Affordability a Key Priority in 2026 Utility Rates 💧

At its January 12, 2026 meeting, Lacombe City Council approved the 2026 utility rates for water, wastewater, and solid waste as part of its ongoing focus on affordability through the 2026 Operating Budget.

For most residents, the impact is minimal. We estimate the typical single-family home will see no change to their monthly utility bill compared to 2025. Other customer types — including condos, apartments, and businesses — may see small increases or decreases depending on property type and usage.

These decisions reflect Council’s ongoing commitment to balancing affordable rates with reliable services that our community depends on every day.

Effective immediately, there's a temporary Closure of all Outdoor Skating Surfaces in Lacombe.

Affected locations include:

There are three storm water ponds in the area that may be used at your own risk for winter recreation, skating, and outdoor shinny hockey. Only Cranna Lake, Royal Oak, and Iron Wolf storm water ponds are designated for recreational use. There's also an outdoor rink, behind Arena 2, at the Gary Moe Auto Group Sportsplex.

The City reminds you that ice conditions on storm water ponds can change quickly and without warning. After the deep freeze two weeks ago, surfaces are in decent winter conditions. Please though, for your safety and the safety of kids and pets, watch for signs indicating unstable areas or maintenance warnings on outdoor City recreation surfaces.

Our Story

The City of Lacombe is a vibrant, fast-growing community of over 13,985 residents that welcomes innovation and enterprise while honouring its architectural and historical heritage. One of Alberta’s newest cites, Lacombe is optimally located along the QE II Highway corridor between Calgary and Edmonton, and in close proximity to Red Deer. Lacombe has a rich natural environment of lakes and green spaces, along with a wide range of lifestyle amenities and recreational opportunities.

We’re open for business! With a regional trade area exceeding 170,000 people, Lacombe is an ideal location for commercial and industrial development with a ready supply of serviced, suitably zoned land available.

Lacombe is also an important logistics, research and service hub for the agricultural industry in Alberta. The city hosts both the federal and provincial agriculture research facilities, as well as the head office for the Agricultural Financial Services Corporation, and is proud to serve area farmers and producers.

Our beautifully preserved Edwardian-era downtown area, with its growing complement of sidewalk patios, exciting new restaurants, artisan bakeries and an award-winning microbrewery, is fast becoming a destination for ‘foodies’ across the region. We’re always looking to add to our burgeoning culinary scene. Come check us out! PLEASE NOTE: This page is not monitored outside of regular business hours.
