A large U.S. study found that people who regularly get less than 7 hours of sleep tend to have a shorter life expectancy, even more strongly than poor diet or lack of exercise. Only smoking showed a greater impact on lifespan.

Sleep plays a vital role in:
• Heart health
• Immune function

Daylight savings does not have to mean brain fog, cravings, and 3pm crashes. Here is everything I am doing to make sure the time change feels energizing, not exhausting.

1️⃣ Morning light within 10 to 20 minutes of waking
Even 5 to 10 minutes outside without sunglasses if possible helps anchor your circadian rhythm and regulate your natural cortisol rhythm.

2️⃣ Aim for 20 to 30 grams of protein at breakfast
You do not need perfection, just enough protein to stabilize blood sugar and reduce that mid morning crash.
Examples:
• Two eggs with Greek yogurt
• A protein smoothie with collagen or protein powder
• Cottage cheese with berries and nuts
• Leftovers from dinner

3️⃣ Shift bedtime gradually
Move your bedtime earlier by 10 to 15 minutes for a few nights instead of forcing a dramatic reset.

4️⃣ Hydrate first thing
A large glass of water upon waking, optionally with a pinch of sea salt or electrolytes, can help reduce that heavy, sluggish morning feeling.

5️⃣ Magnesium in the evening
Magnesium glycinate can support nervous system relaxation and deeper sleep while your body adjusts.

When meals are unbalanced, glucose enters the bloodstream too quickly, triggering sharp insulin responses, energy crashes, cravings, and increased inflammatory signaling over time. A blood-sugar-friendly plate slows this process and supports metabolic resilience. Here’s how to build one:

🥩 Protein as the foundation. Protein slows gastric emptying, improves insulin response, and supports muscle and metabolic health.
🥦 Fiber-rich plants for modulation. Vegetables and whole plant foods provide fiber that blunts glucose absorption, feeds beneficial gut bacteria, and improves insulin sensitivity.
🥑 Healthy fats for stability. Dietary fats further slow digestion and enhance satiety, helping maintain steadier blood sugar between meals.

When you feel unusually short-tempered, reactive, or easily overwhelmed, it’s rarely “just stress.” Irritability is often the nervous system’s way of saying it’s under too much load.

Common body-based contributors include:
• Blood sugar swings
• Poor sleep or circadian disruption
• Hormonal shifts (especially estrogen and progesterone)
• Elevated cortisol or chronic stress
• Inflammation or nutrient depletion
