▪ The SHOULDER ▪ Pt.2
💪
The shoulder has three bone to bone joints and one “false” joint or "floating" joint.
▪ The Sternoclavicular (SC) Joint - where the sternum meets the clavicle (collarbone).
▪ The Acromioclavicular (AC) Joint - where the clavicle meets the acromion process of the scapula (shoulder blade).
▪ The Glenohumeral Joint - a ball and socket joint where the humerus (upper arm bone) meets the scapula.
▪ And finally, the Scapulothoracic Joint, which isn’t a traditional joint where two bones meet along with cartilage and ligaments. Instead this “joint” is an articulation point where the scapula glides over the rib cage (thorax). It is stabilized by muscles and is integral to the function of the shoulder.
