Heather MacIntyre, is a registered massage therapist and is a graduate from the 3000 hour program at the West Coast College of Massage Therapy in Victoria in early 2011. She also has training in Active Isolated Stretching techniques. Before becoming a Registered Massage Therapist, she worked in the spa industry as a Spa Therapist for the past 6 years. Her work experience includes working in a high end resort spa, a successful Salon and Day Spa, and a medical Massage Therapy Clinic, as well as doing outreaches to assisted and independent living facilities in Victoria. Combining the love of working with her hands and the joy of helping others, she has found her niche in the professional world. Heather grew up in the Mid-Vancouver Island area for most of her life and felt it was only natural to come back here to work. She has a strong background with athletics, playing a variety of sports but later focusing on basketball. She has played, coached youth and now is volunteering as the Massage Therapist for the Men’s Basketball team at VIU. This gives her the chance to stay very current with common sports related injuries. Heather also has an affinity for working with the elderly. Witnessing the affect massage therapy can have on geriatric patients from personal and professional experience, she made it a goal to help others to improve their quality of life. When she isn’t working with patients or volunteering her time with the basketball team, she is spending time being a mum with her beautiful daughter, Naomi. She also enjoys spending time with family and friends, finding new trails to hike with her dog, and spending time exploring this beautiful island she calls home, just to name a few. A true passion of Heather’s is to encourage and promote her patient’s bodies to find their own natural healing abilities through massage.
