Hey Folks, I would like to give a Shout out of support to the Walk tomorrow for murdered and missing Women, Men and Children! Backwoods Basics School of Wildcraft Medicine will now be available both in the Cowichan and on the Sunshine Coast this Spring, starting in March.

Backwoods Basics is back in the Cowichan! Ahhh its good to say that! Taking registration now for the spring classes beginning in March. It is an 8 month course in wildcrafting, Folklore and Indigenous plant medicine and medicine making. Lots of hands on and lots of FUN! If you want to learn more...email backwoodsbasics.info@gmail.com or check back here from time to time for full course details. I'm just now working on getting the information out to you all before the winter season is truly upon us and also in the middle of the big move. Have you ever tried boxing up baskets of herbs! Its like fitting round pegs into square holes; AWKWARD!

A fine day on the Cowichan river during one of our Backwoods Basics classes. I believe it was in the summer of 2012. We were gathering Uva Ursi, yarrow and Ocean spray that day. Magic surrounds us!

Starting Over/New Beginnings

HedgeWych Wylds began as an ideal, a dream, in 1993. “the road less traveled sure got a lot of stones” a bumpy ride for sure! But here I am in 2018, beginning over, after loosing my life partner and business partner in 2013, my life has taken on so many twists and turns of late, I feel I am just surfing the waves, sometimes caught in the riptides. But always sustained by the beauty and wonder of God’s creation; the healing wilds, the life force of the forest gives me comfort, so.......I’m grateful to say: HedgeWych Wylds, my product line of healing wildcrafted medicines and Backwoods Basics School are very much alive today! With a new accessible Facebook site that you all can visit to keep updated on events and classes (coming in the spring) and our new mail order catalogue of products, so the wild healing you need will always be available to you where ever you are and where ever I am.

As always HedgeWych Wylds and Backwoods Basics are dedicated to the preservation of the wild lands and her Folk Herbal wisdom. Also dedicated to the wild plants and critters; the Oceans, Air, and Earth that we share in common.
