Lest We Forget 🍁

On this Remembrance Day, we pause to honour and remember the brave individuals - both human and animal - who have served and sacrificed for the freedoms we have today.

From loyal service dogs to strong horses and even humble messenger pigeons, animals played remarkable roles in times of war. Their courage, loyalty, and unspoken sacrifices deserve to be remembered too.

At 11:00 AM, let’s take a moment of silence together to honour all who served, and reflect on the peace and safety we’re lucky to know today.

Today, and every day - we remember. ❤️

✨Practice Manager Appreciation Week ✨

This week, we want to take a moment to celebrate someone who does so much for all of us here at Warmland Animal Clinic - our incredible Practice Manager, Rhiannon 💛

Rhiannon is the steady heartbeat behind the scenes, the person who’s always one step ahead, always calm in the chaos, and always there with a solution, a smile, or a word of encouragement.

She’s so much more than a manager - she’s a leader, a listener, and someone who genuinely shows up for her team and community every single day.

We just want to say, from the bottom of our hearts - thank you, Rhiannon. For your kindness, your guidance, and for the million little things you do that most of us will never even see, but absolutely feel.

We’re so lucky to have you. 💛

Please help us celebrate Rhiannon in the comments below!

Now the big question..

Species Spotlight: Corn Snake! 🐍

Corn snakes have diverse and individual personalities, though they are generally known for being docile, low-key, and easy to handle. They make great pets for beginners and experienced keepers alike.

• Husbandry: Reptiles need both warm and cool areas in their enclosure so they can move around to control their body temperature In their enclosure you can place the heat source on one end and leave the other end cooler, so the snake can move between the two to control its body temperature.
• Preventative Care: Regular vet visits help prevent parasites, respiratory infections, and shedding issues
• Enrichment: - Provide hiding spots, climbing opportunities, loose substrate to allow for natural burrowing behavior. Providing foraging opportunities, puzzle feeders and even moving all the enclosure décor around can help keep your corn snake mentally stimulated.

We love seeing snakes here at Warmland Animal Clinic and helping them stay healthy and happy! 🐍💛

Meet our pet of the week, Squeechie! 🤍

Squeechie is a Cockatoo. Cockatoos are known for their intelligence, and unique crested heads. These feathers on their heads are a key part of their communication, often fanning out to show excitement (like Squeechie in the picture).

We fell in love with Squeechie the minute he started dancing on Sam's shoulder in the treatment area (keep your eyes open for a video early next week 👀). He loves music, and his favourite artist is Elvis Presley, of course.. what a smart guy!

Have you ever met a Cockatoo? Tell us about your experience in the comments down below. 🕊️

Species Spotlight - Roosters! 🐓

Not all roosters crow at sunrise—they’ll crow any time of day (sometimes all day long!)

Here are a few quick facts:
• Husbandry: A balanced poultry feed, plus safe treats like veggies, fruits, and grains, keep them healthy.
• Preventative Health: They can benefit from regular exams to check for parasites, respiratory disease, and foot or beak issues.
• Enrichment: Ladders, bridges, swings, perches, dust baths, teeter totters, ramps, and platforms are fun additions. Hanging vegetables, and adding bells throughout their environment to peck at is also a great way to add more enrichment! 🎶😊

We’re proud to care for all kinds of birds here at Warmland Animal Clinic! 💛
