Acupuncture and laser therapy for Pets!

At Warmland Animal Clinic, Dr. Krisi Erwin offers acupuncture and laser therapy as safe, effective ways to support your pet’s health, comfort, and mobility.

Acupuncture involves placing very fine, sterile needles at specific points on the body to stimulate the nervous system, improve circulation, and encourage the body’s natural healing processes. In some cases, acupuncture treatments may also incorporate Vitamin B12 injections or Cartrophen injections at acupuncture points for additional therapeutic support.

Laser acupuncture is also available for pets who are sensitive to needles or would benefit from a completely non-invasive approach. When appropriate, Dr. Erwin can also teach pet owners simple, personalized acupressure techniques to safely use at home between treatments.

These therapies are especially effective for:
- Arthritis and joint pain
- Mobility issues and stiffness

A cancer diagnosis can feel overwhelming-but you don’t have to navigate it alone.

At Warmland Animal Clinic, Dr. Krisi Erwin offers integrative cancer care, combining conventional treatments with supportive therapies to help improve your pet’s comfort and quality of life throughout their journey.

We’re so excited to officially welcome Dr. Krisi Erwin to the Warmland Animal Clinic team! 🐾

Dr. Erwin joins us from Virginia, bringing with her a lifelong passion for veterinary medicine and a fresh, integrative approach to animal care. In fact, becoming a veterinarian is something she’s known she wanted since kindergarten-her dedication to helping animals has truly been a lifelong calling.

And if her credentials look a little like alphabet soup… that’s because they kind of are 😅 DVM, CVA, CCRP, IVCCP, CHPV, CVPP… plus certifications in Traditional Chinese Veterinary Herbal Medicine and Western Herbal Medicine. Basically, if there’s a letter combination for helping pets feel their best, there’s a good chance Dr. Erwin has earned it.

Krisi has been leading the way off the well-worn path of conventional veterinary medicine and into a more integrative, whole-animal approach. Her areas of focus include integrative cancer care, rehabilitation, acupuncture, as well as laser and ozone therapies. She’s especially excited to bring her expanding toolkit- including pain management, herbal therapy, and integrative cancer care- to support the animals in our community.

At home, Krisi has a full and lively crew: three dogs-Dax, Penny Lane, and Orly- and three cats- Ruby, Tara, and the wonderfully named Ruth Bader Ginspurr. They keep her busy, entertained, and very loved.

When she’s not at the clinic, you’ll likely find her diving into a good book, working on an art project, or enjoying a game of Dungeons & Dragons. She’s also looking forward to exploring all that beautiful Vancouver Island has to offer.

Krisi has already fallen in love with the warm, welcoming spirit of both our team and our clients, and we couldn’t be happier to have her here helping shape the future of care at Warmland.

🚨 Parvovirus Alert - Victoria, BC

We want to make pet owners aware of a recent parvovirus outbreak in the Victoria area, involving animals connected to the Itty Bitty Kitty Committee and recently reported in the news.
Parvovirus is a serious and highly contagious virus that affects dogs, especially puppies and dogs who aren’t fully vaccinated.

What is Parvo?
- Parvo attacks the intestinal tract and immune system and spreads very easily through contact with infected dogs, contaminated f***s, and even surfaces like grass, sidewalks, shoes, and clothing. It can survive in the environment for a long time, which means exposure can happen more easily than many people realize.

⚠️ Signs to watch for:
• Lethargy
• Loss of appetite
• Vomiting
• Severe diarrhea (sometimes bloody)
• Abdominal pain
• Fever or low body temperature

Parvo can worsen quickly and become life-threatening without treatment.

How to help protect your dog:
- Keep vaccinations up to date (this is the best protection)
- Avoid dog parks and other busy dog areas for now
- Avoid contact with unfamiliar or unvaccinated dogs
- Wash hands and clean shoes after public outings
- Be mindful of shared bowls, toys, and water sources

When to call your vet:
- If your dog is showing signs like vomiting, diarrhea, or low energy, contact your veterinarian as soon as possible. Early treatment makes a big difference.

If you have a puppy, a newly adopted dog, or you’re unsure if your pet is up to date on vaccines, give us a call - we’re happy to help.

💛 Our hearts are with the team at Itty Bitty Kitty Committee as they work through this outbreak. Rescue organizations do so much for vulnerable animals, and situations like this can be incredibly hard- emotionally and financially. If you’re in a position to help, consider supporting them through a donation.

It’s ✨Veterinary Receptionist Appreciation Week!✨ This week, we’re celebrating our amazing front-end team a little extra!

Patty & Theresa are our dedicated full-time receptionists, always making sure everything runs smoothly and the friendly faces you’ll most often see when you walk through our doors.

Rhiannon, our amazing office manager, is always ready to jump in and help at the front desk (and just about everywhere else in the clinic!). Carley & Breanna split their time between reception and working behind the scenes as Veterinary Assistants.

No matter who’s at the front, these are the smiling faces that greet you and the reassuring voices you hear on the other end of the phone.

We truly couldn’t do what we do without each of them. Their compassion, warmth, and calm, positive energy help make every visit feel safe and comfortable- for both pets and their people.

Today marks 2 years of Warmland Animal Clinic 🤍

A special shoutout to Dr. Carmen Bell, our owner and medical director. This clinic has been her dream for many years, and bringing it to life has taken so much hard work, resilience, and heart. We’re incredibly proud to be part of what she’s built.

We feel so lucky to serve this community. Getting to know you and care for your pets over the past two years has truly meant so much to us.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us along the way - we wouldn’t be here without you.
