Species Spotlight - Ferrets! 🦦
Ferrets are one of our favourite species that we see here at Warmland Animal Clinic. They make fun, curious companions, but they have special care needs. Keep reading below if you would like to know more.
• Husbandry: Ferrets are obligate carnivores, meaning they need high-protein, meat-based food. When choosing where to house them, consider that they must be protected from outdoor elements like the sun (they can't sweat, so harder to regulate their temperature themselves).
• Preventive Health: They require vaccines and regular vet checkups, just like cats and dogs.
• Enrichment: Ferrets love tunnels, toys, hides, and safe supervised playtime outside their cage.
Ferrets are playful, mischievous, and very social. If you’re thinking of adding one to your family, be ready for both cuddles and chaos! 💛
