Managing asthma effectively requires daily monitoring.
Here are some tips:
1. Get an Asthma Action Plan
2. Ensure consistent controller medication use
3. Keep a reliever inhaler ( “puffer”) accessible

What is the ‘September Spike’?
The ‘September Spike’ refers to a dangerous increase in pediatric asthma attacks and flare-ups that happen soon after kids and teens return to the classroom. In some regions, this phenomenon is called the “Autumn Spike” or “September Asthma Peak”.

This program is designed for individuals with heart or lung conditions and is led by a kinesiologist plus a nurse or respiratory therapist. Together, we’ll focus on safe, tailored exercise, health education, and lifestyle support to help improve cardiovascular and respiratory health.

✅ Open to adults (18+) with a stable, well-managed heart or lung condition who can walk 100m and participate in a group exercise class.

Hours in Lanark are:
Mondays and Thursdays 8:00 am-5:00 pm.

Lanark Renfrew Lung Health Program

The Lanark Renfrew Lung Health Program provides Asthma and COPD education as well as community-based exercise rehabilitation for people living in Lanark, Renfrew, Leeds and Grenville Counties. Our program is supported by dedicated staff of Registered Respiratory Therapists and Physiotherapists who are passionate about improving the lives of people living with chronic lung conditions.
