I’ve been hooping with this crew for over 15 years—guys from all walks of life, all corners of the world.

But after I lost my mom to cancer, I was in a place words couldn’t touch. One Sunday, I showed up to ball—and they handed me a brand new pair of kicks. No speeches. No spotlight. Just a gesture that said, “We got you.”

Men don’t always talk about grief. But that day, they spoke volumes.

Excited to join award-winning director Chrisann Hessing and others for a free screening of We Will Be Brave on April 9th at 6:00 PM at VIFF Centre—an award-winning documentary following the "Good Guise" collective, a group of BIPOC men using art to spark conversations on healthy masculinity, healing, and personal evolution.

After the film, join us for an audience Q&A with the director, film protagonist Balu, and local experts, including myself, as we discuss men’s mental health, vulnerability, and moving from punishment to healing.

Feeling Energized for the opportunity to support teachers! 🙌 Yesterday's Mental Health Workshop for Educators, delivered for the North Vancouver Teachers Association (NVTA), was met with incredible feedback. 🧠💙 Helping teachers prioritize their well-being means stronger, healthier classrooms for all.

It's been 15 years of trying to play it forward. Recognizing my amazing parents and the National Congress of Black Women Foundation - BC Nalda Perry-Callender provided me with a lot of inspiration, cultural richness and empowerment that not everyone in my community gets the opportunity to experience.

Yesterday was the 1st "Brothers Brunch Vancouver", an afternoon of mutual upliftment, visible pride and honoring the 256 ancestors that came before each one of us. I'm so grateful to see the response of over 50 brothers from around the GVA showing up & showing out for some fun, good eats and "soul food".

This kinda success doesn't happen without help, I want to send a very special shout out to Stanley Munyaradzi Rashai, Justin Tisdall @ Juke Fried Chicken, Ribs and Cocktail Bar, Sandra-Joy Unaegbu from Kurent Lifestyle and my big brother Geoff J. Ayi-Bonte.

Many thanks for everyone who made this happen and will continue to make events like this happen.
