A new study from Yale School of Medicine has uncovered a link between skin injuries and the development of food allergies. In mice, researchers found that when a new food was introduced into the gut at the same time as a skin injury, such as a cut or even sunburn, the animals developed food allergies to that food. This connection may explain why children with chronic skin conditions like eczema are three times more likely to have food allergies, with skin inflammation sometimes preceding allergic disease.
The findings suggest that the immune system may “remember” foods introduced during times of skin damage as dangerous, even though the gut is normally tolerant to new foods. This challenges the notion that allergens must enter the body directly through broken skin, suggesting instead that signals between the skin and gut may drive allergic responses.

One of my amazing instructors, Dr. Kellerstein, from the Canadian College of Homeopathic Medicine said this to us in class one day during a stressful period of cases, upcoming midterm and assignments. It meant so much to me at the time I wrote it down. I now keep it close to my desk. Many times it stops me in my tracks, I reread it, take a deep breath, and remember the clarifying words that put it all in perspective for me when I didn’t think I’d make it to graduation.

Skin patient who previously had a squamous cell skin cancer lesion removed. We followed that with alternating the constitutional remedy one week and the Cancer nosode the next for 4 rounds.

Approximately one year later, another lesion in the same area showed up. While the patient was waiting to get in to see the doctor, we restarted the same protocol.

Do you want to feel better quickly, or do you want to resolve the issue causing the illness or problem?

Any modality can offer quick symptom relief, but what does that mean within the body’s overall vital force in the future?

In homeopathy we love a quick resolution, but that isn’t necessarily what we’re going for. Often we have years of layers of suppressed symptoms, emotions, infections etc. that need to be addressed to finally get to the root cause.

Symptoms are the body’s attempt to heal itself. They are part of an intelligent design that acts like a check engine light. Just as you don’t replace the engine in this instance, you don’t cut your arm off because it’s broken or injured.

We are looking to strengthen the vital force so it is strong enough to heal itself. We want you to know there are other options out there which are often much cheaper than conventional care.
