Hey friends!

If emotions feel big in your child’s body…

try bringing those feelings outside.

Heavy work—like pushing logs, carrying rocks, digging, or climbing—gives the nervous system the deep input it needs to settle. When the body feels more organized, emotions often feel more manageable too.

This isn’t about stopping feelings.

It’s about helping the body feel safe enough to move through them.

Sometimes regulation needs to happen through the body before words can come.

🌱 Small moments of movement in nature can make space for big feelings.

Hey friends!

Last week, our older group took on a communication challenge. 🗣️

One person held the image. One person held the blocks.

The only bridge between them? Words.

As they navigated clarifying questions, problem-solving, and moments of mismatch, we saw teamwork take shape in real time—adjusting language, listening closely, and learning how to express ideas clearly when things didn’t go as planned. 🧠👋

These kinds of challenges build more than structures.
They build connection, perspective-taking, and confidence in communicating with others—skills that matter far beyond this moment.

Hey friends!

Progress doesn’t always show up as a new skill or a checked box.

Often, it shows up quietly—felt in the body before it’s seen on the outside.

In nature-based OT, we look for growing capacity:
the ability to stay, to try, to recover, to trust.
Some days that looks like movement. Other days it looks like rest.

Both matter.

Progress isn’t linear here, and it doesn’t need to be rushed.

We meet each nervous system where it is, knowing that small, steady shifts build something lasting 🌿

Seeing strengths where others see struggles 💚

Strong-willed kids often get into power struggles with parents/adults, but remember—it takes two to argue. When tensions rise, take a deep breath, help them feel understood, and set limits respectfully. Avoid unnecessary conflict and remember offering choices empowers you and your child.
Instead of looking for obedience, take time to guide them to make good choices independently. Strong-willed children value their integrity; if given some control, they’re often eager to cooperate.🌱 Hang in there, it's worth the time ❤️

Hey friends ☃️

Winter break is here! ❄️�Here are a few simple, family-friendly nature activities to enjoy together:

Dec 23 – Nature Wreath�Cut a cardboard ring and add twigs or leaf stems (poke holes or use hot glue).

Dec 24 – Gifts for Wildlife�Make birdseed ornaments or wreaths.

Dec 26 – Kindness Rocks�Paint encouraging words on rocks and leave them outside for neighbours to find.

Dec 29 – Twig & String Star�Collect 5 twigs, shape into a star, and tie the corners (paint first if you’d like!).

Dec 31 – Nature Lanterns�Try popsicle sticks, parchment paper, hot glue, and string.

Jan 1 – Vision Board�Create a collage with magazine cutouts, journal pages, and nature finds.

Jan 4 – Simmer Pot�Simmer orange slices, cranberries, cinnamon sticks, and rosemary for a cozy scent.

🚨 We have news for you!

❄️✨ Winter Break Update ✨❄️

Our little cabin in the woods will be taking a restful pause from ❗️December 20th–January 4th❗️. We’ll be recharging, reflecting, and getting ready for more nature-filled OT fun in the new year!

Thank you for such a wonderful season of play, growth, and muddy boots. 🥾🌲

We can’t wait to see you again in 2026!
