Most of us know how important it is to balance mind, body and soul for complete and overall health and wellbeing. Broken down, the Sanskrit word Ha translates to ‘sun’ and Tha to ‘moon’, equating to Hatha being the yoga practice of balance. Suitable for all levels including the novice yogi my hatha yoga classes are basic, gentle, fun and challenging. Decrease stress, boost immunity, generate strength and increase flexibility as you move your body safely and with intention. At Nurtured by Nature Yoga my low impact classes include a variety of postures including openers for the legs, hips and shoulders. Create complete health of your mind and body and create space for breath and energy to flow through you freely. My life’s purpose is to support others in discovering and loving their truest selves while healing physically and emotionally. I have 19 years of experience in the mental health field. I have provided counselling and support to women, children, youth, and families in non-profit organizations, schools, communities, residential and private settings. Yoga, which is a form of mind-body practice, draws its roots to India and it has been proven to reduce stress and anxiety while improving physical and mental health. I am committed to sharing the gift of Yoga with others through a safe and supportive, trauma-informed approach. I understand through personal and professional experience the impact Yoga can have on mental health, healing, and overall wellness. I believe in the importance of healing through safely connecting to the body, mind, and soul. I completed my 200 HR Yoga Teacher Training in 2018. Additional training in Yoga and Trauma Therapy, as well as Somatic Therapy, have further enriched my understanding of how to support healing through Yoga. With presence and compassion, I use knowledge, breath work and specific yoga poses to match the challenges of the nervous system to shift the relationship towards greater regulation. As a Yoga instructor and counsellor I focus on the neurobiology of the nervous system through body and breath awareness. It is my honor to share the wisdom and power of yoga, awareness, and knowledge of counselling to do my part in supporting the healing of the collective.
