Lighthouse Dental Centre

Lighthouse Dental Centre Using the latest in infection control, ergonomic design and technology Lighthouse Dental Centre's clinical care is purposefully designed to be world class.

You may be wondering why we chose the name Lighthouse, before the development of modern day ports mariners relied on well timed fires on hill tops to help ward them away from danger. Following these lights to calmer waters mariners often found comfort, safety and sometimes respite from severe storms. From the advent of these early warning stacks, to the birth of lighthouses as we know them today,

these structures were always a symbol of hope. We know that there are many options in the world of dentistry and the choices can sometimes be overwhelming. Our vision is to be a place where for a short time, you feel that same sense of safety, comfort and care as these early mariners did. Welcome to our harbour and we hope you enjoy your time at Lighthouse Dental Centre.

Here is a prime example of why we take a panoramic radiograph:

Taking a panoramic radiograph is essential in detecting supernumerary teeth for several reasons:

1. **Comprehensive Visualization**: A panoramic radiograph provides a broad view of the entire dental arch, allowing for the identification of supernumerary teeth that may not be visible in standard intraoral radiographs and intraoral pictures.

2. **Assessment of Location**: It helps in determining the precise location and orientation of the supernumerary tooth, which is crucial for planning any necessary treatment or extraction.

3. **Impact on Adjacent Structures**: Supernumerary teeth can impact the position of adjacent teeth, leading to potential crowding, misalignment, or impaction. A panoramic image aids in assessing these relationships.

4. **Treatment Planning**: Understanding the presence and position of supernumerary teeth can inform orthodontic treatment plans or surgical interventions, ensuring appropriate strategies are employed.

5. **Detection of Associated Issues**: Panoramic radiographs can reveal other dental anomalies or pathologies associated with supernumerary teeth, such as cysts or infections, which may require further investigation or treatment.

Overall, a panoramic radiograph is a valuable diagnostic tool in the management of supernumerary teeth and related dental conditions.
