Osteoarthritis (OA) is a degenerative joint disease characterized by cartilage breakdown and loss of mechanical function.

Human OA samples are limited and highly variable. This limits study size and reduces data reproducibility.

Our instruments enable non-destructive assessment of OA severity before testing. Samples are categorized upfront, which controls variability.

We presented this work at in Charlotte. We compared naturally occurring OA in equine and human cartilage using identical methods.
Consistent trends are observed across mechanics, electromechanical mapping, and histology.

This framework enables controlled, scalable studies on clinically relevant OA samples. It supports reliable evaluation across OA severity levels.

We are also presenting poster #979 on naturally occurring osteoarthritis in equine and human cartilage. The data show alignment between mechanical properties, histology, and ICRS grading. The results support the use of equine tissue as a relevant model for OA research.
