Today, we recognize National Indigenous Languages Day, a day to celebrate and honour the rich diversity of Indigenous languages across Canada.
These languages carry culture, history, identity, and ways of understanding the world that have been passed down through generations. They are deeply connected to community, storytelling, and healing.
At Erie Shores HealthCare, we acknowledge the importance of preserving and respecting Indigenous languages as part of our commitment to culturally safe and inclusive care.
We stand with Indigenous communities in celebrating these living languages and the knowledge they hold, today and every day.
A small act of kindness can make a big difference for someone in the hospital.
This past weekend, Essex District High School student Juliana Miller stopped by our Med/Surg units with personal care items for patients. She raised $250 by organizing her own bottle drive.
This is the third time Juliana has done this for our patients. Her generosity continues to bring comfort and care to those who need it most.
Thank you, Juliana, for thinking of our patients and for making our hospital feel a little more like home š

Across the hospital, our team came together in purple to show support for the millions of people living with epilepsy, along with their families and caregivers. It is a small gesture that represents something bigger. Understanding, compassion, and a commitment to care.
Epilepsy affects people of all ages and backgrounds. Raising awareness helps break down stigma and encourages important conversations.
To our staff, thank you for showing your support and helping us create a more inclusive and informed community.
Because care happens here. š

Patient safety is built in the small moments that happen throughout the day.
During Patient Safety Week, Katrina Billion, Clinical Practice Manager at Erie Shores HealthCare, highlights the simple but important steps our teams take to keep patients safe. Hand hygiene, double-checking medications, and confirming a patientās identity before care are everyday practices that help prevent errors and support safe, high-quality care.
Preventing patient falls is another key focus. Our teams work closely with patients to provide support when getting out of bed, moving around their rooms, or walking in the hallways. Proper footwear, clear pathways, and regular rounding to ensure patient needs are met can make a meaningful difference.
At Erie Shores HealthCare, patient safety is a team effort where staff, patients, and families all play a role.
Because care happens here. š

These days, work has become their chance to spend time together. Whether itās meeting up for a break or calling Mom for help with a tricky IV, their bond carries from home into the hospital.
