If you’re dealing with neck tension from work, stress, or long hours on a screen, these exercises can make a big impact. They are great for anyone with a desk job, tension headaches, or mild neck stiffness.

1. Upper back extension: Use your desk to rest your elbows and use your hands to guide pressure to the area of your spine just below your neck. Drop your upper back down between your arms, keeping your neck neutral (chin tucked in). You should feel this in your shoulders and between your shoulder blades.

2. Segmental neck flexion/extension: Tuck your chin down and flex your neck down thinking of moving one segment of your spine at a time. Keeping your chin tucked, uncurl the way you came down, still moving one segment at a time.

3. Upper back rotation: Half kneel with one side against the wall, arms together, rotate your body, and try to open your arm towards the other wall.

4. Scapular around the worlds: Lay on your stomach with your arms overhead, lift your arms by squeezing your shoulder blades together, and bring them around and back behind your back and then back the way you came. Try to keep your shoulder blades squeezed together through the whole movement.

If the pain doesn’t go away, a physiotherapy assessment can help!

When you lean forwards make sure to breathe.

If you’re further along in your pregnancy you can always gentle lift your belly before leaning forwards. This can help relax your pelvic floor, assisting with emptying your bladder fully.

Try not to push those last few drops out. This puts added strain on your pelvic floor muscles.

Double tap if this was helpful, and share with a pregnant friend!

We promise we don’t just make these up 😅 Every exercise is tested, adjusted, and chosen for a reason, even if it humbles us first 😂 If it’s challenging, it’s because it’s meant to help your body move and feel better!
