Back to the roots. Back to the land. Back to ourselves.
This past week, we had the honour of spending time reconnecting with an incredible group of MĂŠtis youth. Together, we stepped into a slower rhythm, one shaped by tradition, curiosity, and the wisdom of the land.
We made natural adhesive and spears, whittled, shaped clay into beads and vessels, crafted cordage, and foraged ingredients for wild lemonade, cactus, and more! We vanished into the trees with camouflage, created primitive paint, shared countless stories, and ended our time together in a large hand-built shelter. Inside, we breathed in the healing steam of a traditional inhalation, reflecting on our shared journey.
Even if time and circumstance disrupt connection, the land holds memory.
There is no better classroom than the land itself. Mother Nature teaches with every breeze, every riverbend, every root and stone, and this weekâŚevery rain drop.
The land doesnât just remember, it welcomes us back. It invites us to listen, to feel, to see, to learnâŚand to return to our roots.
