Today is National Tap Dance Day. A day to celebrate tap dancing and to commemorate the birthday of Bill “Bojangles” Robinson, a legendary tap dancer born on this day in 1878. Admittedly, tap dancing was not my favorite form of dance to do, but I do love watching good tap dancing. Some amazing veteran tap dancers include Gregory Hines, Fred Astaire, Gene Kelly, and Ginger Rogers. So today feels like the perfect excuse to revisit some classic performances and celebrate the legends who made tap unforgettable.

Today is International Dance Day. I have so many fond memories from my time in the dance studio, and dance is still one of those things that truly makes my heart happy. Music and movement are such a powerful way to release stress and let go of tension.

Stress often keeps our attention locked on what’s right in front of us. One small way to interrupt that cycle is to simply look up.

Today’s reminder: take a few moments to look up at the sky. Let your shoulders drop. Take a slow breath. Notice the space and openness above you.

When life feels stressful and overwhelming, it’s easy for the mind to slip into rumination and overthinking. Unfortunately, this only adds to the stress—when our thoughts are chaotic, we tend to feel chaotic too.

When you notice your thoughts starting to race, gently tell them to pause. Then, bring your attention back to the present moment by engaging your senses. This simple shift can help your mind settle, which in turn can calm your nervous system.

The next time you notice yourself caught in worried or stressful thoughts, pause and ask:
• What do I actually know to be true?
• What resources or supports do I have available to help me handle this?
