Last week’s Mix & Mingle event was one of those nights that reminds us why this community matters.

So many women showed up to connect, collaborate and build real relationships. Some even drove in from surrounding communities just to be in the room, and that kind of commitment never goes unnoticed.

There’s something powerful about a space filled with passionate business women who are willing to introduce themselves, start conversations, and support one another.

A big thank you to The Loft On 5th for hosting us in their beautiful space, and to Jackie Standing .business for sharing practical insight on body language in communication and networking. So many great takeaways from the evening.

Jackie Standing | Standout Photography Studio .photography

Jackie Standing is the owner and lead photographer of StandOut Photography Studio, which she founded in 2010. With over 15 years of experience in family portraiture, business headshots, and personal branding, she is known for her ability to meet people for the first time and quickly help them feel comfortable and confident in front of the camera. By paying close attention to body language, expression, and energy, Jackie creates an experience where her clients feel seen and portraits are authentic.

She also serves as the Events & Partnerships Manager for the Lethbridge Chamber of Commerce, where she brings that same relationship-focused approach to the business community, creating spaces where conversations flow easily, introductions feel genuine, and connections lead to meaningful opportunities.

At the heart of everything she does is a simple belief: strong businesses are built on real relationships.

StandOut Photography Studio is a Lethbridge-based, full-service portrait studio specializing in family portraiture, business headshots, and personal branding. Known for its guided and highly personalized approach, the studio focuses on helping people feel comfortable and confident so their images reflect who they truly are and how they want to be seen.

They have recently moved into a newly renovated space, the studio was intentionally designed to elevate the client experience, offering greater flexibility for both professional branding sessions and custom portrait work. StandOut Photography combines connection, preparation, and artistry to create images with purpose.

We’re kicking off 2026 with connection, conversation, and a little fun!

Join us, Thursday, January 15th, at The Nest at Honkers Pub from 5:30–7:30 pm for our first SAWIB event of 2026!

We’ll enjoy food and drinks, cover a short AGM, and then spend the rest of the evening speed dating with other women in business. It’s the perfect way to start the year with new connections and fresh momentum.

We’re also looking to welcome one or two new board members this year, so if you’ve ever been curious about getting more involved, this is a great place to start. Feel free to connect with us if you have any questions!!

Market cancelled 😢

Unfortunately due to weather, cancellations, and expectation of low patronage due to weather, we have decided to cancel the SAWIB market.

Please note that if you are a registered, non-member vendor and paid for your table, we will issue prompt refunds. We will also be extending the opportunity for early bird membership pricing and hope you’d still love to join us for our 2026 season.

Apologies, and thank you so much for your understanding this tough call.

Our SAWIB Market is happening this Friday, November 28, and we can’t wait to see you there.

Our SAWIB Market is coming up next week, and we’re so excited to bring together an incredible mix of local women-owned businesses for an evening of shopping, connection, and community.

The market is open to the public, and everyone is welcome to come explore, support local, and kick off their holiday shopping with us. Admission $5.

If you’re a vendor and have been thinking about joining us, there are still a few spots available. Product based, service based, event based, and education based businesses are all welcome. Last night was our very first Winter Ball, and we are still buzzing from the energy in the room. It was our biggest SAWIB turnout yet, and the entire evening at Anton’s Restaurant in the Sandman Signature Lodge felt like such a celebration of the women in our community.

Prime Catering delivered an incredible meal, the service was wonderful, and the room was filled with conversation, laughter, and genuine connection all night long. A huge thank you to Jenny for being our speaker and sharing her insights on boundaries in such an honest, entertaining, and relatable way. She brought so much clarity and fire to the evening.

Thank you to everyone who attended, invited friends, and took the time to explore what Southern Alberta Women in Business is all about. The board is truly grateful for the turnout and how the entire evening came together. It was everything we hoped it would be and more.
