So, you're wondering...what is the role of a postpartum doula?

Her guiding principles are to:

NURTURE - she meets families where they are at and provides non-judgemental support.

EDUCATE - she educates the family by modeling behavior, observing, and offering options.

ASSESS - she assesses the environment for the families' specific needs in order to assist them.

REFER - she provides resources and referrals to families and assists them in developing the skills to seek out other resources and referrals as they need.

The role of the doula is to be NEAR her clients offering support.

She provides non-medical support and companionship, assists with newborn care and sibling adjustment, meal prep, and household organization.
