THEN YOU CAN MAKE AN EDUCATED DECISION!

Your baby’s birth is not the time to be complacent. You should have a full understanding of what is being offered and why you’re doing what you’re doing! If you feel left with unanswered questions it is your RIGHT to keep asking until you feel OK with making a decision. Sometimes it feels like there’s no easy answer. Sometimes it seems like it’s too much or too confusing. Sometimes it feels best to just let the professionals decide. That is fine, as long as YOU are ok with your decision. You should never feel pushed into a decision, If you do feel like that, do your best to speak up about it. We often fear authority, and see doctors and nurses as people we need to please or fully agree with all the time. Try not to leave yourself open to feeling like you didn’t have some control over your birth experience. They are humans, they have their own opinions and it’s their job to communicate with you.
They may be experts in birth but they should not be the only ones involved in your decisions.

Doulas offer educational, emotional,
and physical support to families birthing in hospitals, birth centers, and home settings. Birth doulas support you as well as your partner, and don’t have preferences about your birth but support you in making your OWN choices. Studies on the effectiveness of doula care show that women who are supported by a doula during labor feel more satisfied with their birthing experience.

2023 was a wild ride for me full of doula “firsts” I met incredible people, supported strong women & fell in love with my job!

2023 also came with its own personal challenges having 3 surgeries & recovering at home with 3 littles! But we crushed it and looking forward to a healthy 2024!

I have set myself goals for 2024 that I am working very hard to reach, I have big ideas and can’t wait to see what this year will bring!

A woman's birth experience is not something that just happens to her and then it's over. A woman's birth experience is about who she is, it's about who she becomes, it defines her, it unmakes her, and it re-makes her, it unravels her. And it puts her back together again.

I always keep this in my mind while entering a woman’s birth space, it’s a sacred space & a time in a woman’s life she will never forget.
