As Christmas is upon us, all of us at Mackey Funeral Home, Stoddart Funeral Home, and Jardine Funeral Home want to extend our heartfelt thanks to the many families who placed their trust in us throughout 2025.
It has been a privilege to walk alongside you, to listen, to care, and to help honour lives in meaningful ways. We are deeply grateful for the confidence you have shown our staff and for the kindness and understanding shared with us during such personal moments.
We also recognize that while this season is joyful for many, it can be tender and reflective for others. Wherever this Christmas finds you, we hope it brings moments of peace, comfort, and connection.
From our families to yours, we wish you a warm and gentle Christmas and a New Year filled with hope.

🎉 Happy Retirement, Michele! 🎉
Please join us in celebrating and thanking Michele as she begins her well-deserved retirement!
Michele joined the Mackey team in 2014 as our Office Administrator, and for the past 11 years she has been a steady, dedicated, and caring presence in our office and our community. Born in Toronto and raised in Mississauga, Michele later attended Sheridan College for Business Administration and raised her two children before eventually settling in Port Perry with her husband, Chris. In 2011, they made the move to Cambray to embrace country living — a place that has truly become home.
Michele has been a steady hand to Alison since Linden’s passing and has provided far more than administrative support to the team. She has been a sounding board, a strong leader, and a true source of comfort and guidance. Michele is a dear friend to all and will be dearly missed, but we wish her well as she steps into this exciting new chapter after an incredible 11 years of dedicated service.
We are incredibly grateful for Michele’s kindness, commitment, and the heart she brought to everything she did.
đź’› Please join us in wishing Michele all the best as she steps into this next exciting chapter!
Her last day with us will be December 29th — feel free to share your thanks, memories, and well-wishes below!
Congratulations, Michele! 🎉✨

Do You Know the Difference?
Although we’ll never correct you if you mix them up, there’s an important difference between a hearse and Hearst.
A hearse—traditionally known as a funeral coach—is a vehicle used to transport your loved one from the place of death to the cemetery, crematorium, church, or celebration of life.
Hearst, on the other hand, is a town in Ontario. While it’s a fun coincidence that the two sound the same, they’re definitely not interchangeable!

1892 ~ 1950
The Mackey Funeral Home is proud of its longstanding relationship with families in Lindsay, Ontario and surrounding communities. It is independently owned and operated by a third generation of caring Mackey family. The 'Mackey' quality of care is renowned throughout this region. The funeral home was founded by Mr. John Anderson in 1859. John Anderson Furniture and Funeral Supply located on Kent Street West in Lindsay, provided a selection of quality furniture and funeral services. James S. Mackey apprenticed with John Anderson and became a co-owner in 1919 of the Furniture and Funeral Supply business. Recognizing the value of a funeral service, James built the only Funeral Chapel in the Town of Lindsay. This chapel remains the only Funeral Chapel designated for funeral care in the now City of Kawartha Lakes. James' commitment to the community didn't end with funerals, his was involved throughout his lifetime fostering the friendships he had made in Lindsay and the surrounding area.
Linden J. Mackey

Although Linden J. retired in the 1970's, he was active in the business until the time of his death in 1987. In 1986 James G., as his grandfather did, returned to Lindsay to complete his apprenticeship and subsequently graduated in 1987 and remained as an employee. James E. and Gordon, together with James G. and Linden S. continued with the support of additional staff until the time of James E.'s retirement in 1989. During 1989 Gordon's sons Linden S. and James G. became
