📣 Big news for local health care! Over $3.4M in funding is coming to expand primary care in our region through the Kawartha Lakes Haliburton Ontario Health Team and Kawartha North Family Health Team. This collaborative effort will help connect more people—especially in rural areas—to the care they need, close to home. 🙌

While we’re still awaiting details on what this will look like for our primary care team here at Community Care, this is an exciting step forward for team-based care in our community. 💙

40 Programs, 40 Years 🎉
Program Spotlight #17: GAIN Clinic

As part of our 40 Programs, 40 Years celebration, we’re proud to highlight our GAIN Clinic, which is dedicated to providing comprehensive healthcare for seniors living at home or in retirement residences.

The Geriatric Assessment and Intervention Network (GAIN) program brings together an inter-professional team of experts specializing in seniors’ health. Through a series of assessments, including memory, balance, mobility, and fall risk, we work with you and your family to create a personalized care plan. Our goal is to support seniors dealing with complex health concerns like memory loss, difficulty walking, safety issues, medication management, and more.

Referrals can come from patients, families, doctors, or other health providers. We’re here to help navigate your healthcare needs with compassion and expert care. Visit https://ccckl.ca/gain/ to learn more.

📼 Rewind to 2001!

As part of our 40th anniversary, we’re sharing a special throwback — a Community Care promotional video from 2001 that we recently uncovered in our archives.

It was originally on VHS and brought back to life thanks to a member of our Client & Caregiver Advisory Council who generously lent us a VCR to digitize it.

Take a look at how far we’ve come and see how our mission of care has stood the test of time.

🌈 Thank you to Kawartha Lakes Pride for hosting Pride in the Park this Saturday, July 12! We’re proud to support this celebration of community connection.

We will have a booth set up this Saturday from 12–3 PM in Victoria Park in Lindsay. Stop by and say hello! 👋

We are PROUD to be partnered with Community Care City of Kawartha Lakes not just during Pride Week but all year long. With the help of United Way for the City of Kawartha Lakes, Edwin Binney Community Farm and Education Centre and KLP, we’ve been able to resurrect the Good Soup Project, helping to eliminate food insecurity in Kawartha Lakes.

We appreciate everything you do to make Kawartha Lakes a loving place to live! Stop by their booth on Saturday at Pride in the Park to see what services they have to offer. 🌈

When Charlene became a caregiver for both her parents, she faced incredible challenges—but also found deep purpose and connection. As her father entered palliative care, Community Care’s Hospice Services helped the family navigate his final months with dignity and support. Her mother passed away just two years after her father, and Charlene turned to supportive programs like grief counselling and Nordic Pole Walking to begin her own journey of healing.

Her story is a moving reminder that no one has to walk through loss alone.
