Our residents rolled up their sleeves and got a little crafty making pinecone bird feeders!

This fun, interactive activity supports creativity and fine motor skills, while giving us something exciting to watch for outside. Birdwatching supports relaxation, inspires joy, and creates meaningful moments of connection with the world around us!

Over the past few weeks, we’ve been lucky to welcome some very special furry visitors to our community! From the Lloydminster Kennel and Obedience Club, to adoptable pets from Pets Purpose Animal Shelter - Lloydminster & Area, and even a few beloved staff companions. Our space has been filled with wagging tails and happy hearts.

Animal-assisted visits are a meaningful part of recreation therapy, helping to reduce stress, spark conversation, and encourage connection and emotional well-being. We’re so grateful for the joy these sweet visitors bring.

Pink Shirt Day began right here in Canada in 2007, after a student was bullied for wearing a pink shirt on his first day of school. When two classmates, saw what was happening, they decided to take action in the simplest and most powerful way. They bought pink shirts, handed them out, and encouraged others to wear pink in solidarity. What started as one small act of kindness quickly turned into a movement that spread across Canada and around the world.

Today, our staff and residents proudly wear pink to honour that message: that everyone deserves to feel safe, supported, and accepted. We also had a special moment of connection when a family member treated us to an impromptu musical performance, filling the space with joy and encouraging residents and staff to dance together.

Moments like these remind us what Pink Shirt Day is truly about: coming together, lifting one another up, and creating a space where kindness, inclusion, and belonging are felt by all! 💕

Today we celebrated Therapeutic Recreation Month with a day centered around our residents and the joy they bring to our home.

The morning began with a few lively games of crib, where friendly competition and laughter filled the room. We even had a few staff members join in on the fun! In the afternoon, residents gathered with family members and staff for our “Heart of Recreation Party.”

Residents enjoyed snacks and punch, shared Valentines, danced to the music, and one of our talented residents treated us to an impromptu, beautiful piano performance!

It was a wonderful reminder that recreation supports connection, creativity, confidence, and community. Though, our residents truly are the heart of it all. ❤️

Our display highlights influential Black Canadians, both past and present. Their contributions to education, civil rights, politics, arts, and community continue to inspire us today.

We invite residents, families, staff, and visitors to take a moment to learn, reflect, and celebrate these incredible individuals and their lasting legacy.

Today for World Cancer Day, our incredible staff and residents traded their usual colors for every shade of pink. From our nurses to our neighbors in the halls, we’re standing together to honor survivors, remember loved ones, and support those currently in the fight. We are so proud of our colorful community!
