Have you ever had a dream about doors and thresholds?
I recently worked with a dreamer who had repetitive dreams of stairs that led to locked doors of different colours. Some had door k***s and knockers. Others had steel latches with frayed rope handles.
We explored these - if and how they opened and closed.
But it was this question that let the dream to release its meaning, “What did it feel like to stand in the opening - on the threshold?”
I love Jungian-flavoured dreamwork! Join me. Bring a dream or two. Together, we will stand on their thresholds!
On Zoom ~ recording available if requested by the dreamer.

Midday Meditation: BLESSING THE THRESHOLD
This blessing
has been waiting for you
for a long time.
While you have been
making your way here,
this blessing has been
gathering itself,
making ready,
biding its time,
praying.
This blessing has been
polishing the door,
oiling the hinges,
sweeping the steps,
lighting candles
in the windows.
This blessing has been
setting the table
as it hums a tune
from an old song
it knows,
something about
a spiraling road
and bread
and grace.
All this time
it has kept an eye
on the horizon,
watching,
keeping vigil,
hardly aware of how
it was leaning itself
in your direction.
And now that
you are here,
this blessing
can hardly believe
its good fortune
that you have finally arrived,
that it can drop everything
at last
to fling its arms wide
to you, crying
welcome,
welcome,
welcome.
—Jan Richardson
Whatever liminal spaces you find yourself in, read through slowly, blessing them, naming both the blessing and the welcome. Carry this threshold blessing out of this liturgical year and into the new one that begins Sunday. May you find welcome here, in the before, and in the crossing over into what is next.
