To The Core Pilates/Health and Wellness Pilates/Health and Wellness
To The Core Pilates and Nutrition is a locally owned studio that turns 17 this year!

Located just west of the downtown core we are massive supporters of our local charities as well as huge advocates for Discover Lloydminster and Think Lloyd First programs. Owned and operated by Donna Schellenberg, we began as a small family oriented facility which has grown with her own family over the years. We treat our clients as a part of our family and believe everyone that steps through our doors deserves the absolute best of what we have to offer. Our purpose has always been to awaken a life of limitless joy in others. Although that may sound strange to some, our clients have overcome massive obstacles that impacted every area of their lives. When you're in pain it's tough to enjoy life. It's difficult to move well, do the activities you love with the people you love the most. Often pain impacts incomes and jobs. Most often it impacts our relationships, our sense of self worth and our confidence. Finding joy in moving again gives people back their freedom and a new outlook for the future. We are proud to help people do just that. At To the Core Pilates & Nutrition it is our mission to encourage lifestyle choices that will improve health over the long term and to improve the quality of life of every client. We offer Therapeutic Pilates and specialize in pre and post natal health as well as post rehab care for hip and knee replacements as well as spinal issues such as scoliosis or disc herniations. To the Core also offers personalized Nutrition Coaching. We work with you to develop smart, effective eating choices to meet your fitness and health goals. Together, we will develop and analyze your habits, dietary needs, and track your progress with the support and resources you need. We believe in creating healthy and sustainable habits that last a lifetime and creating realistic goals and expectations for ourselves. No quick fixes or "no pain, no gain" workouts to be found here. We teach our clients to be proactive about their health, listen to their own bodies and to become advocates for their own health and wellness.

We are getting ready for our Fitness Circle workshop on January 30 at 10:30 AM so you can add some variety to your at home practice.

Does your back feel "done" by 2:00 PM? Or maybe you feel like your core just isn't supporting you the way it used to after having the kids?

Meet your new best friend for core stability.

The Fitness Circle looks simple, but it is a powerhouse for finding those deep muscles without the "no pain, no gain" struggle. It provides the gentle resistance you need to feel strong and stable again. Not only do we use the circle to increase resistance but we show you how to incorporate it into your Pilates workouts to mobilize your spine, free up your hips, and create strength for the inner thighs, abdominals, and upper body.

This tool is a game changer for finding that core muscle connection and challenging your stability. It is fun, it is supportive, and it works.

Join the workshop to learn how to use this tool for better posture and a happier back.

✨ Fascia is having a moment ✨

Suddenly it’s everywhere on social media - from foam rolling, release tools, and buzzwords galore. With lots of quick tips, minimal explanation, and very little understanding of the bigger picture.

But here’s the thing…
We’ve been talking about fascia for years.

Why? Because how you move matters.
And systems like Pilates and MELT don’t just strengthen muscles, they hydrate, nourish, and restore your fascia.

Fascia is the connective web that supports everything:
your posture, mobility, pain levels, recovery, and how your body feels day to day. When it’s sticky or dehydrated, you feel stiff, sore, and restricted. When it’s cared for? Movement feels smoother, lighter, and more connected.

This isn’t trendy for us.
It’s foundational.

So if your body’s been feeling tight, achy, or “off”…
🔴 Don’t just stretch harder.
🔴 Don’t chase quick fixes.

Move with intention. Move with awareness. Move with us.

Join us for our MELT Method Ball Workshop on Thursday January 22nd at 6:30 - 8:00pm.

“If I lost weight, my pain would go away…”

This is one of my biggest pet peeves and I hear it all the time!

Your weight is not the problem. Pain happens to people of all shapes and sizes. Losing pounds alone won’t magically make the pain disappear.

Here’s what really happens:
To lose weight, you’ll make changes.
You’ll move more, eat differently, drink more water, and likely improve your mental and emotional health along the way.
You may feel more energized, more confident, more connected to the people around you, and even more productive at work.

Those changes and the actions you take are what make the difference. Not the number on the scale.
Crash diets or quick fixes don’t do that. They often leave you frustrated, worse off, and still in pain.

The key to long-term change? Your Foundations.

Learning how to move, breathe, and care for your body consistently.

Building a strong, healthy base so you can keep improving your overall health with pain management included.

Lose the idea that weight is the cure.
Focus on the actions that actually heal your body and the pain will follow.

Walking into a Pilates studio can be scary, especially if you feel like you don't "fit the mold."

We saw that look on a few faces in our new Pilates Foundations class this week. But then, the room filled with laughs and support from people who are on the exact same journey. We aren't here for six pack abs. We are here so:

✔️ You can feel comfortable and confident in your own clothes
✔️ You can move better and breathe more freely
✔️ That your day starts with a shower and coffee, not the stiff achy hips or sore back
✔️ You can finally feel what connecting to your core feels like
✔️ How to activate the abdominal and pelvic floor strength that actually supports you

Like and follow our page to see why this community is the support system you have been looking for or if you are ready to join our next beginner class you can register for the the February session online. 😁

Unaddressed hand and foot pain affects everything you do.

When your struggling with discomfort, even the most mundane tasks become more challenging. Workouts feel less enjoyable, your progress slows, and your confidence drops. Pain can cause us to show up inconsistently, take longer breaks, or leave altogether because we feel discouraged.

Pain in the feet or hands is often the first signal your fascial system needs support. When ignored, it leads to movement compensations that affect the knees, hips, back, shoulders, and neck. By the time you notice “real pain,” the underlying pattern has been affecting your body for years.

During this workshop we teach you gentle, self treatment techniques to erase pain and tension in your hands, feet, neck, and low back. Learn to release your fascial system pain-free and provide relief from neck and low back pain, arthritis, headaches, bunions, plantar fasciitis, and carpal tunnel syndrome.

This all-levels class will teach you how to use the balls in your MELT kit (included with workshop), include handouts for doing the treatments at home along with videos you can follow for your practice.

Do you ever find yourself sitting on the edge of the bed in the morning, taking a deep breath before you stand up?

For our client Michelle, that first step used to come with a sharp pinch in her lower back. Her hips seemed stuck in the morning and she was doing the 'shuffle' for the first few steps until things loosened up. She thought she just had to live with it because of years at an office desk and long weekends helping on the farm. So to start we worked on breathing, stability, and mobilizing her spine in her very first class and within a few weeks her morning steps starting changing.

The mentality of "no pain, no gain" is a lie that keeps you hurting. The truth is that you can start moving better exactly as you are right now. You don't need to push harder. You just need to move better.

Pilates teaches you the tools to get your breathing and moving better so you feel confident inside the studio and outside doing everything else.

Comment "ME" if you are ready to stop fearing that first step in the morning.

Yes, I’m talking to you.

The woman who’s been pushing through the pain for years, trying to hold it all together for everyone else.

When I was struggling with chronic pain, I was trapped in a vicious cycle.

It hurts → I’m exhausted → I can’t → and then I’d start all over again.

Every day was about surviving. Getting up. Putting on a brave face. Taking pain pills just to get through work or make it through the day.

Deep down, I knew what I needed to do to start healing, but the emotional side of pain kept pulling me under.
I got stuck in my “I can’t.”

I forgot all the things I could still do.

I was stuck in my story.
And maybe that’s where you are, too.

Because if you truly “knew what to do,” you’d be doing it.
You wouldn’t still be stuck in pain, you’d be reclaiming your life.

The truth?

You’ve missed the foundations. The simple, powerful things that your body and mind need first.

You’ve tried quick fixes, pills, and advanced techniques before you even built your base.

But real healing doesn’t come from a shortcut.

It comes from rebuilding from the inside out gently, intentionally, and with guidance.

That’s what my clients and I work on together:
* shifting from “I can’t” to “I can.”
* learning to listen to our bodies instead of fighting them.
* building strength, confidence, and peace from the ground up.

And that’s where the magic happens.

When you change your mindset and rebuild your foundation your body starts to change, too.

If you’re ready to finally move past pain and rediscover what’s possible simply reach out. It’s the answer you’ve been searching for. You just didn’t know it yet. 😊

Happy New Year's Eve!

As we get ready to flip the calendar to January, you might be hearing a lot of talk about New Year's resolutions. We don't really believe in the "New Year, New You" pressure so we wanted to end the year focusing on something else - gratitude.

We know that life is about more than just checking off a list or chasing a certain look. It is about building memories with your family and feeling comfortable and confident as you move through your day. Instead of looking at what we want to change or "fix," we want to end this year by looking at what we already have.

Gratitude helps us stay focused on long term health and healing. It reminds us why we show up for ourselves and our movement practice every week.

Before the celebrations start, we would love to hear from you. What is one thing you are grateful for from this past year or this holiday season?
