Depression is common and is unlikely to simply go away on its own and if left ignored it may have negative impacts on a person’s life. According to the CMHA About 11% of men and 16% of women in Canada will experience major depression in their lives. Depression impacts Canadians differently depending on age, gender, economics, race etc.
According to the Public Health agency of Canada, 4,500 Canadians die by su***de every year in Canada. It is the second leading cause of death in youth and young adults age 15-34.

• 811 HealthLine: Call or text 811 (from NL) for immediate mental health/addiction help, nursing advice, or health navigation.
• 988 Su***de Crisis Helpline: Call or text 988 for 24/7 su***de prevention support across Canada, including NL.
