The goal is to be able to do it with no hands. 🖐️
It’s said to be an Indicator of overall health because in order to complete it, you need adequate balance, agility, flexibility, and core/leg strength. These are all important factors in longevity and quality of life , especially as we age. This challenge is especially significant in the 51 to 80 age group 👍
Have fun and try different ways of getting up off the ground without using your hands. 🙌
The test is scored out of 10. You get 5 points for sitting down and five points for getting up with zero support. You lose a point every time you use a hand or a support of any kind. Give it a try!
If you can’t do it, don’t worry! Try using a block, stool or chair at first and work on your strength, balance and flexibility until you CAN. 🙌 .
