Got hurt at work? Here’s what to do (WSIB made simple)

We see this all the time—someone tweaks their back, slips, or lifts something wrong and isn’t sure what to do next. If that’s you, here’s a simple breakdown:

📝 Step 1: Report your injury
• Let your employer know as soon as possible
• This starts your WSIB claim and protects you

📄 Step 2: Know the forms
• Form 6 – completed by you
• Form 7 – completed by your employer
• Form 8 – completed by your healthcare provider

• Form 8 can be completed by a chiropractor, physiotherapist, or medical doctor
• You don’t need to wait to see your family doctor to get started

🏥 Step 3: Get assessed and start care
• We assess your injury and submit your Form 8
• Treatment can start right away

• If it’s a workplace injury:
→ You don’t use your personal benefits
→ No out-of-pocket costs for approved treatment

📊 Step 4: Return-to-work support
• We can complete a Functional Abilities Form (FAF)
• Helps your employer understand what you can safely do
• Supports a gradual and safe return to work

• You can get treatment even if you didn’t miss work
