A capsules combining omega-3 ALA (alpha-linolenic acid) from sacha inchi oil with vitamin D3 derived from lichen oil may offer several eye health benefits, backed by scientific studies.
The omega-3 ALA, a precursor to the fatty acids EPA and DHA, is crucial for the structure and function of cell membranes, especially in the retina, where DHA plays a central role in phototransduction, the process that converts light into nerve signals. Omega-3 deficiency has been associated with problems such as dry eye syndrome, age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and decreased visual acuity.
On the other hand, the vitamin D3 in lichen oil has anti-inflammatory properties that may be particularly useful in the prevention of inflammatory eye diseases, such as dry eye syndrome and uveitis. Recent studies have suggested that vitamin D also helps reduce the risk of AMD by modulating inflammation and oxidative stress, key factors in its progression.
Together, these capsules may provide a synergy that improves overall eye health by protecting the retina, preventing chronic inflammation and promoting tear production, improving hydration and tear film stability.
