What is and how does it start?

▪️Delirium is a serious disturbance in mental abilities that results in confused thinking and reduced awareness of the environment. The start of delirium is usually rapid — within hours or a few days.

▪️Delirium can be triggered by an infection, some medications, or withdrawals from certain substances. Those over 65 are most at risk for delirium.
▪️When treating delirium, it is important to understand the cause.
