Okay folks, what can I say, even your trusted healthcare providers are flawed!
We ache, we stress, we care too much sometimes and we are absolutely not immune to any of the ailments that we often treat.
I find myself often, like you maybe, wondering what else I can do to heal better, make my pain, stress go away or manage it better.
Sometimes we go round and around not seeing what may be the most obvious thing we can do, which is very simply, less.
Do less.
But that sounds like a lazy talk!
NOT AT ALL! Excuse the shouting :p
There comes a time in a frustrating bout of busyness where we aren't getting better fast, or we have plateaued in our healing ..
or we have a better day and immediately pile on all the things we have been wanting to do/ have to do that we haven't been able to.
Only to find, ouch hey...that maybe made me worse or set me back in my progress all for one hot evening of sport we like to play or all the chores that had to be done in one day...
It sounds boring of course and like it won't work, but when you have tried pushing through pain and throwing force at life and you are left in pain, burnt out, maybe that worked when we were younger, or healthier, had more free time and less responsibility but let's get real, that's not sustainable.
We get one body...treat it like you love it ! Like you like it even. It's not just the vehicle your in it's an extension of your mind, how you think and feel emotionally, spiritually.
On a day where I didn't go for the walk I wanted to but worked a heavy day, I'll opt for some light and gradual stretching instead of pushing my hips into their deepest stretch possible, because my nervous system doesnt need push, it needs ease. And I bet for all of you pain sufferers that's what you need as well. There's a time and a place for push and it's purposeful and meaningful resistance exercise to name one.
Take away: be gentle with yourself, notice how your body feels, is it tight ? Is it in pain ? Where ? Take some deep breaths, notice again is it the same, different, better, worse ? Repeat.
For a more structured plan, see your healthcare providers ! And that means you too healthcare providers !
