Many people feel conflicted when setting boundaries. It can feel uncomfortable, even selfish, to say no or to ask for space. But boundaries are not walls, they’re bridges that allow us to stay connected in healthier ways.

When we honour our own limits, we create space for respect, balance, and authentic relationships. At Inner Wellness Counselling Services, we often remind individuals that boundaries are an act of self-respect and care, both for ourselves and for those around us.

1️⃣ Turn Towards, Not Away: When your partner bids for attention (a sigh, a comment, a touch), acknowledge it with presence and care. Small moments create deep connection.

2️⃣ Express Fondness & Admiration: Regularly share appreciation for your partner. A simple “I love how you support me” goes a long way.

Meet Michelle!

Founder of Inner Wellness Counselling Services

Michelle is committed to the well-being of her clients and works from a non-judgmental, client-centred, trauma-informed perspective. She helps empower individuals to overcome personal obstacles in a calm and safe space.

Michelle incorporates a blend of various therapeutic approaches in her practice tailored to the unique needs of her clients such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for PTSD.

Michelle has experience supporting individuals struggling with mental health concerns (such as anxiety, depression), trauma, stress management, relationship issues, and substance misuse. She also supports couples who are struggling with issues such as conflict, infidelity, communication problems, and life transitions.

Michelle is a registered clinical social worker in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW). She is also a member of the Ontario Association of Social Workers (OASW). Michelle obtained an undergraduate Bachelor of Arts – Honors Specialization in Psychology degree at the University of Western Ontario and then completed her Master of Social Work degree from Wilfrid Laurier University.

In her free time, you can find Michelle either spending time with her family or exploring different places with her camera photographing wildlife and nature.
