View from the van window as our EVAH-North crew heads home to their families after a week of increasing access to veterinary care in Northern Ontario. We hope you all have an opportunity this weekend to pause(paws?!) for even just a moment and enjoy the Ontario autumn colours. How fortunate we are to live in such a gorgeous country!

This level of love and respect for our patients is not uncommon whatsoever; our team is so passionate about helping our clients & patients. But we know the public can’t always see the beautiful moments, the quiet moments, the healing energy that we try to share with every pet who graces us with their presence at EVAH. So tonight we share our EVAH Hamilton hospital manager and a rescue dog named Scarlett, as Scarlett settled in to recover from a surgery. This. This is the stuff folks.
(If you are interested in learning more about sweet gentle rescue dog Scarlett please reach out to Pet Save Dogs Available for Adoption ).

Our Dr Martha (aka everyone’s angel!) had a beautiful plate gifted to her from friends in Portugal many years ago, and recently she accidentally dropped it at an EVAH gathering. Heart and plate, broken! Imagine her utter delight when a friend and long time EVAH amazing supporter cleaned up the pottery bits and surprised Dr Martha creating this stepping stone for her garden with the broken plate. KINDNESS MATTERS!!! How creative and generous; Dr Martha was so moved and appreciative & the stepping stone looks gorgeous in her native plants garden!

What a beautiful day we had in a Northern Bruce, Saugeen Peninsula Indigenous community providing on site veterinary services including non surgical dog sterilizations. We cannot even express how wonderful the day felt, being welcomed and appreciated (and well fed!) by so many wonderful people and their loved animals. It was a long day to be sure, but we all powered through with smiles in place! Feeling very grateful!

EVAH London awesome possums put together a team to attend https://forestcitytrivia.com at The Dawghouse. We were invited on stage to share a little about our clinics, and why affordable veterinary care is so important. Forest City Trivia had made a donation to EVAH London recently so the ladies were happy to go and support the night!

We know they’re out there.
Innocent looking 👀 big eyes and oh those sweet whiskers and paws…and teefies that just can’t resist a little gnaw on your electrical cords! As this is Fire Prevention Awareness week we are sharing an excellent reminder from the Town of St Marys : check those cords and replace damaged ones including the lithium cords!

𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘂𝗺-𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗯𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝘀𝗮𝗳𝗲𝘁𝘆 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿?
Lithium-ion batteries are everywhere, but if damaged (teefies gnaw…) or misused (nom nom teefies…), they can 𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙩, 𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙘𝙝 𝙛𝙞𝙧𝙚, or even 𝙚𝙭𝙥𝙡𝙤𝙙𝙚!

✅ Stay safe by:
• Only using batteries + chargers made for your device
• Following the manufacturer’s instructions
• Never charging on beds or under pillows
• Replacing damaged cords right away

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. Today, Oct 5th 2025, is the CIBC RUN FOR THE CURE in which some of our team members will participate (photo from our London based walking team in 2023!). This cancer has hit our EVAH crew close to home, and 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with it in Canada this year. Good luck & thank-you to all of the volunteers who make this annual fundraising and outreach support event possible in their cities!
