🇬🇷 Greek Day was a huge success this past Saturday!

Resident enjoyed a delicious Greek-themed lunch prepared by our kitchen, featuring Avgolemono soup, chicken souvlaki, and Greek salad. In the afternoon, we were treated to an incredible performance by the London Greek Dancers, who showcased traditional dances in beautiful cultural attire. Some of our residents and family members even joined in for a lively Zorba dance!

We also had information boards available for everyone learn more about Greece and its rich culture. And of course, the day wouldn’t be complete without more amazing treats—spanikopita, tyropita, baklava, feta cheese, ouzo candies, lemonade, and Greek orange Fanta.

With Town Hall packed to the brim, it was truly a fun-filled day enjoyed by all who attended! 💙

Yesterday was a special day for our Dream Team!

We had the privilege of granting a wish for Rudy, giving him the opportunity to enjoy a memorable outing to the Stratford Festival Theatre to see Guys and Dolls alongside his daughter and a friend.

It was a fantastic experience filled with music, laughter, and meaningful moments. We’re so grateful to be part of making wishes like this come true! ❤️

Last night, we had the pleasure of celebrating something truly special—our volunteers. As part of Volunteer Appreciation Week, we gathered for a beautiful evening of dinner and connection in the Ruby, taking time to recognize the incredible individuals who give so much of themselves to our community.

Volunteers are truly at the heart of our organization. In long-term care and retirement homes, their presence brings comfort, companionship, and joy in ways that cannot be measured. They enrich the lives of our residents and help create the warm, vibrant environment we are so proud of.

Each year, we honour one outstanding individual with the Barb Schlegel Award. This year’s recipient is Arden McGarvey. Through his kindness, reliability, and positive presence, he's made a lasting impact on our residents, families, and team members. When he isn’t volunteering within a program, he is always happy to pull up a chair and be a listening ear to anyone who needs a friend. Congratulations Arden!

To all of our volunteers—thank you for your compassion, your time, and the difference you make every single day. We are endlessly grateful.

Happy Earth Day! 🌎
Today we celebrated by coming together for our annual outdoor Village cleanup, helping keep our surroundings beautiful and green. Some of our wonderful residents also headed out into the community to Jesse Davidson Park to lend a helping hand. Back within the Village, we enjoyed fun Earth Day crafts that reminded us all of the importance of reducing, reusing, and recycling.
Taking care of our planet is essential—every small action we take today helps protect the Earth for future generations. 💚

Vaisakhi (also spelled Baisakhi) is an important festival celebrated mainly in northern India, especially in Punjab, and by Sikh communities worldwide. It usually falls on April 13 or 14 each year. How it can be celebrated:
Nagar Kirtans (religious parades with singing and scripture)
Visiting gurdwaras and sharing free meals (langar)
Traditional dances like Bhangra and Giddha
Wearing bright, festive clothing
Fairs, music, and food
In short, Vaisakhi is both a spiritual milestone and a celebration of harvest and community.

At Glendale, giving back is at the heart of what we do!

Through our Glendale Gives Back initiative, our residents and team came together to create birthday boxes for Children's Health Foundation. Because every child deserves to feel celebrated on their special day, no matter where they are, or what they are going through.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to spread a little joy and make birthdays brighter.
