I have just come in from looking after my beloved pets in my stable. They are are in warm clean stalls, with clean water, well fed, out of the horrific wind chill and snow squalls.
I thought of my fellow human brothers/sisters out in the cold tonight. I could barely stand just walking in it for less than 2 minutes. There will undoubtedly be human death tonight, needless deaths. I spoke recently with a homeless man that was developmentally delayed. He was incapable of looking after himself. Incapable of finding a warm place to be in weather such as this.
How can we allow this? We must remember that no once chooses a life on the street. Trauma, neglect, abuse, untreated diagnosis, lack of ability to make enough money for various reasons...so many reasons why they are out on the street. Any one of us can be in their shoes at any time. We are all human.
They are our brothers, our sisters, our parents, our aunties and uncles, our mothers, our fathers, our sons and our daughters.....
How can we all collectively create villages like this in every city? Villages that have support systems in place, meeting more than just physical need, even teaching job skills and giving a sense of purpose? Places like this example saves lives in so much more than just one way. We just can't wait for the "government" to take care of these people.
Like minds can make miracles happen. How can we plan and start this at least in this area? Can anyone help? There must be way.
